I read this to my 1 year old he loves it does all the little actions gets excited when I pull out the book. It's great fun I definitely recommend it to anyone with kiddies 2 and under.
"A cute little book"
'It's a Little BABY' is an interactive flap book for young toddlers and my 16 month old thoroughly enjoyed it. On each page is a a repetitive verse looking for baby and baby can be found hiding behind a flap. Each baby is performing a little action such as waving or clapping. The verse goes on to ask the reader to do the action too. My little girl loved showing me that she understood and could do these actions.
As an addition the book comes with a QR Code, when this is scanned the verse from the book is played in a song format.
Overall the repetitive verses, pictures, flaps and actions make for an enjoyable little book, one which has already become a firm favourite in this house. The price is reasonable, I would have enjoyed a few more pages, but only to extend the fun!
"He loved it! "
It's a little baby- a fab peekaboo book aimed at the younger audience
My little boy loved playing peepo with the book- I had actually been singing the lines to him before I realised that there is actually a song available to compliment this book.
It's quite short and quite repetitive, basically the same lines repeated over and over with a slightly different action- but that didn't stop my sons enjoyment.
The book is brightly coloured throughout, the peekaboo pages in my opinion may be a little weak- afterall this is aimed at 16 month olds- so if they are anything like my lad they can be a tiny bit heavy handed when excited- so may tear or break easily.
If I had purchased this book myself I don't think I would have paid the RRP- £6.99 for a book with just 5 verses I felt it was a little expensive
"Lovely book "
My 12 month old adores lift the flap books and I like the fact that the story encourages the children to copy the actions such as point, wave etc. It would have been nice if there were just two or three pages more so that it felt value for money.
An added feature is a QR code which, when scanned, leads you to an online audio track of the book, which is a nice touch and brings the book into the 21st century.
I'd definitely recommend this for a child from 12-24months.
Whilst my daughter and I usually love Julia Donaldson books, with this one it felt like there was something missing.
Lift the flap books are great; my daughter loves them - and she did enjoy the flaps in this book. However the questions did not really engage her and the pictures did not seem to either. It was also difficult to talk about the pictures with her as the drawings are not very bold and appealing.
Unfortunately we lost the paper that the book came with and so have been unable to access the online song (unless I am missing something and there is a QR code in the book itself?! Even Google couldn't provide the answer – please correct me if I am wrong) but this seems unfortunate as I would have liked to have used that function, and having an extra piece of paper to compliment the book just felt strange and unfinished.
Overall I think the concept is great and innovative, and the flaps are good, perhaps the execution is just a little lacking. I would probably be rating this higher had I used the music function.
"Great for babies "
Julia Donaldson books are always popular in our house. This one was enjoyed by both my baby (9 months) and my nearly 3 year old. They both enjoyed lifting the flaps and looking underneath. I personally felt it was a good short story for babies as they are easily distracted. I have even found my toddler 'reading it' to her baby sister.
"It's a hit!"
My boys are 18 months and enjoyed this book. They're generally fans of Julia Donaldson and lift the flap books, and the added element of being encouraged to clap, point, wave, etc like the baby helped to keep their attention, and ask for it to be read again several times.
Whilst the addition of the online song to accompany the book is a nice touch, in reality we haven't listened to it more than once as by the time I've grabbed the ipad to find it, they've moved on to something else.
The fact that my twins have squabelled over who gets to it first, so can lift the flaps, is a sure fire sign that it's a hit!
"Baby! Baby! Baby!"
My 17 month old is obsessed with babies so this seemed perfect for her, especially as she loves lift the flap.
She does enjoy the book, but as a parent I felt there is something missing, not enough pages perhaps, or the fact that the last page is basically all the words of the book on a single page, my daughter is not interested enough for me to read all that out.
Quite pricey for what it is too, and we haven't listened to the song, the attention span of a child at this age is just not long enough to see that through, it's book on my lap and read it immediately, then the next one, then the next one!
"I would recommend this book"
My 17 month old daughter loves this book. She enjoys lifting the flaps and following the actions. Being able to sing along to the online song is a nice touch. I do however think it is quite expensive.
"Lovely little book"
This was a lovely little book although I would say a little pricey for what you get although it is very well made and good quality. My son who is 19 months old enjoyed opening the flaps himself and the pictures are nice and bright colours. My son loves music so the downloadable song was a good touch.
My son is 17 months old and his favourite feature of the book is the flaps that reveal the pictures relevant to the text. As a lot of the book is very repetitive, he was able to follow the text and know when it was time to lift one of the flaps.
The interactivity of this book is wonderful, especially with the accompanying song, and having had this book for a month or so, he still enjoys the interaction.
The book is very durable, thankfully, as it's one of the few book my little one hasn't bitten to pieces and given the size of the book, I'd say that the price is reasonable.
My daughter and I really enjoy story time, and there really is nothing better than books with flaps to open. The book is of very good quality, I would normally feel it is too pricey for a baby book, however I think the added bonus of the online song makes it well worth it.
I have really enjoyed sharing this book with my son at least once a week since it arrived. The repetitive verses help the baby to join in with the actions. The flaps are well made and have not ripped at all. We really enjoyed this book and I have now taken it in to work to share with the children in my class with additional needs.
"Julia Donaldson... need I say more?! "
As with all the Julia Donaldson range we have, this is a lovely book. Easy to read, very rhythmic, and strong and sturdy flaps for child to play with.
The colours are strong and bright, and the book is very strong board - will last an age even with the most bashful of toddlers!
If you scan the QR code, it also links to the song that's published in the back of the book - I'm yet to do this... not knowing how to scan the code 😆
Makes a fabulous addition to any collection, and a great gift too.
