"does the job"

I received this a week ago and have been testing it everyday on my sons fruit, it does what the bottle says really, cleans the fruit, has o after tastes or funny odours and is very handy when out and about

"I'm not entirely convinced"

I have been trying this product for just over a week and I am not entirely convinced about it. Basically, it is a bottle of clear liquid that you squirt onto your fruit and veg, rub into a foam and then rinse off. It is suitable for vegetarians, vegans and is Kosher. I normally rinse fruit and veg in water and use a brush with harder vegetables. The liquid has a very plesant smell (clean, although a little like a washing up liquid) and creates a nice foam. My fruit and veg have come clean but I can't say that I have noticed a huge difference although maybe it was slightly easier to clean vegetables like cauliflower and broccoli. I liked the smell although, it felt slightly strange having my veg smell of a lovely washing up liquid. The food tasted the same, well, we didn't notice any huge differences. With the amount of bugs going around I understand that this has antibacterial qualities but can't help thinking that maybe we need to eat a little muck as it never did the past generation any harm. I will continue to use the spray with some fruit and veg. It was particularly good at getting wax off lemons. I'm not sure if I'd rush out to get another when this was finished, I may just continue with water and a brush. I scored it low on value for money as I think that at the moment I am just as happy with water and a brush.

"Not something I'd buy"

Fitwash came in a functionable, recyclable spray bottle. Instructions were easy, just spray on, rub in, rinse off. Whilst I noticed the colours seemed sharper on the fruit and veg, can't really say anyone noticed a difference in taste. It says it removes pesticides and bacteria, but I try to buy organic products anyway and I don't think a little bit of bacteria does any harm (think strawberry picking). Says you can use it out and about, but also says rinse after spraying which seems to defeat the object. In all, I wouldn't buy the product as it costs retail-£4.49 which seems a bit steep, when only the colour change is noticable.

"Undecided..."

This product sounds like a great idea. It comes in a sturdy, functional spray bottle, and promises to remove nasty stuff from your fruit and veg. The problem is, there's not really any way to tell if it does. It doesn't leave any nasty smell or taste and I couldn't see any difference in the fruit or veg. But, these are also good things! I wouldn't have bought this product, and although I'll continue to use it up I doubt I'll buy more. If you are concerned about what's on your fruit and veg, then this is probably something you might want to invest in. If you're happy with a quick wash under the tap, you may not see the need. It's very much a personal choice.

"Hmm not sure"

As a pregnant woman I am concerned (but not neurotic!) about what is going into my body and I'm sure this will continue when my little one comes along. I was asked to review Fit Wash which claims to remove pesticides and bacteria from fruit and vegetables. It's an organic product which comes in a very easy to use spray bottle, simply spray, rub over the fruit/veg and rinse. It leaves no aftertaste on your fruit/veg and I certainly noticed a difference in the waxy build up on apples and it totally removed the 'powdery' white build up on grapes (what is that stuff anyway??). Of course, we have no way of confirming if it actually does remove the pesticides and bacteria. I've used the product a lot since receiving it and it definitely seems to last quite a while so it is probably quite good value for money. However, as someone who believes that children shouldn't be wrapped in cotton wool and should be exposed to the realities of daily life (i.e bugs and bacteria in order to develop immunity and resistance) then I don't think I would buy this product again. If removing pesticides is the main reason for buying this then maybe a switch to organic products would be a better plan. I can see this product doing exceptionally well if it were to be released in the USA!!

"Undecided"

Was very sceptical that this product was going to show any difference to the washing of my fruit and veg so eagerly waited its arrival. I have to say that it is very simple to use, just spray wipe rinse, and did show a difference when compared to just using water. My apples definantly felt less waxy and looked cleaner but as for being healthier and removing pesticides and stuff, I cannot say. One bottle does go a long way so is probably value for money and if money was no object then this is a product I would buy.

"Waste of money"

I recieved the fit wash spray a while ago i have used on my fruit and veg and find it to be a waste of time. You spray the fruit/veg but you have to thoroughly wash the item afterwards anyway. I personally wouldn't purchase this item, but for those who are overly obsessed with cleanliness or worried about pesticides or germs this could be handy!

"Easy to use"

This is easy to use, just spray, rub it in and rinse under water. It claims to move 98% more chemicals and wax than water alone but not sure how true this is, also I didn't notice any difference in taste after using it. This is probably a good product for people who are wanting an extra piece of mind regarding the cleanliness of their fruit & veg. The bottle is good value for money as a little seems to go a long way.

"Nice product"

I have used Fit Wash frequently to wash my vegetables; I found Fit Wash has an appealing scent, I feel this is a good idea to help maintain cleanliness to products we consume; I would buy this product and I do believe I would get value for money.

"Interesting product!"

When I first recieved my bottle of fit wash I was a little dubious about using something on my food that I knew nothing about. I had not heard of this product prior to using it. I will admit I was scared to use it at first but then read all of the ingredients to see that they were 100% natural and mostly plant-based which put my mind at rest and therefore I commenced the product test. I have been using the product for several weeks now and a little certainly goes a long way as I get through tonnes of fruit and veg in our household and have been washing everything and i am pleased to say I still have half a bottle left! When you spray the product you can smell the grapefruit juice and I am assuming this is what the antibacterial agent is. I was worried that all of my fruit and veg would be tainted with a grapefruit taste but this is not the case. Once rinsed there is no trace of the product (well, no taste and smell anyway!)The product does remove grime and wax from things like apples so I do think it has it's use, however, I'm not sure it is something I would buy because of the whole faff of rinsing etc.and I don't have the money to spend on such luxuries at the moment (saying that, i have no idea what this product retails at so it is difficult to say if it is good value for money)I do think it is a good idea - especially with the swine flu outbreak seeing as all of your supermarket veg could potentially have been touched by an infected person. But not something I would go out and buy.

"not good value"

Ithought the Fit Wash was a bit pointless because it is recomended for use on organic food which I dont usually use and also I don't like the fact that you spray the food then leave it for 2 days. I would not buy this product myself again.

"FIT FAQs"

Hello All, I am a representative of FIT Wash UK. Firstly, I would like to thank all the reviewers for taking the time out to review our product and post your comments. However, I would just like to clarify on some of the points raised regarding the product and its use: FIT Wash has been created because washing your fresh produce in water alone is not enough to remove bacteria and pesticides which can be harmful. Salad is one of the main culprits in causing food poisoning, so, rather than it being a matter of personal choice whether to wash with water or FIT Wash, we are trying to make people aware that washing with water alone could be a health risk. This is why Fit Wash has been developed. FIT Wash is 100% natural and cleans instantly, with no need to wait before eating, and no vigorous further washing is required. FIT is a cheaper alternative to buying in organic produce, but even organic fruit and vegetables have dirt and contaminants from soil and people handling residues where bacteria and germs lie. I hope this has clarified some of the points raised, but please do contact us with anymore queries as we are always happy to hear feedback. Further information is availble at www.fitwash.co.uk/atHome/aboutFit/FAQs/

"Nice product!"

Every time I buy loose fruit I always wonder who picked it up before me. Washing it with Fit Wash gives me piece of mind, knowing its clean. I was a bit worried that you would be able to taste it. This is however not the case. The smell is also pleasant and I found it easy to use. Would recommend it.

"Washing fruit"

What a great idea, no harmful ingredients and so easy to use. Too often veg feels greasy or waxy with this spray you just spray on rub your hands round it and rinsh, no smell or taste is left and the fuit looks clean and shiny. Highly recommended to fruit eaters.

"A little goes a long way"

I was a little dubious about how good such a product would be, but the ingredients are 100% natural, and so I thought I would give it a try. Such a small amount really cleans your veggies up nicely, and there is no trace of the smell or taste once they have been rinsed. I am honest though, I don't use it on veg that I am going to peel anyway, so potatoes and carrots don't get the Fit wash treatment! I'm not sure if I would actually buy Fit Wash myself as most of the veg that I do is peeled, and cooked, so I don't see the point in cleaning the peel which is not eaten anyway. I am using it on fruit and other veg, and at £4.50 per spray bottle, it seems a luxury that I can't afford at the moment. Great if you eat loads of fruit and salad, though only if you have the spare cash.

"not my usaul purchase"

when i was first told i was recieving this item i did wonder what the point in it was? I mean nearly all of us know that you should wash fruit and veg first before cooking or eating. I gave it go though and even though im not a convert this product would be perfect for those who are interested in this line of products.overall i am glad to have tried it but i wouldnt buy this again.

"The jury is still out"

My first reaction to this product was what is the point, I have had fruit and veg that has been washed under the tap all my life and I am fine! I first used it on fruit (apples) and it definately made a differnece to the feel of the skin, wheteher it effects the taste I am still undecided. One observation I would make is that if you clean all your fruit at once with the product it may shoprten the 'shelf life' as you remove the protective barrier (wax) that is put on the fruit??? There is no doubt that Fit Wash cleans the fruit better than just water the question is would I spend my hard earned on this product? The answer I am afraid is probably no.

Score Sheet

"Unsure of product"

I receive my fruit via an organic fruit box delivery scheme so the taste of the fruit and life span is 100 times better than super market bought fruit, so I was a bit wary of whether it would take the freshness away from the fruit. I did find there was a difference to the feel of the fruit skin when I used the wash I didn't notice a difference to the taste but I am still unsure why I would choose to buy a product to wash my fruit when to me tap water does exactly this. I wouldn't purchase this product.

"I wouldn't buy it"

Hi All I have been using this for a while and can see the benefits. I feel good knowing that most if not all bacteria is being removed before my family eat something. However I don't actually like the smell it isn't that distintive but I can notice it now and then I keep washing it which probably is not the right thing to do. I probably won't buy unless I go on holiday or something.
