"great books, mobile breakable"

I was very pleased with the appearance, it was a very bold design and stood out, I thought the small use of red on the handle and bow on the opening was a nice touch. However, I think it would be good to have a choice of pink, blue or red. I found the books very easy to use as part of our daily routine. I also found that my 6 year old son enjoyed being able to show his baby sister the books. Unfortunately, I did not find much use for the mobile. When assembling the mobile, even though I took great care I still managed to make a small tear on the spiral attatchment. I also found it a bit fiddly to assemble and would have preferred the long piece of string already divided into the 6 parts. I do not believe that I would buy it at the current retail price without the above alterations being made. However, I do think that the books are a good buy separatley.

"mobile easy to assemble, also as easy to break."

The mobile was very easy to put together but some of the shapes would not stay in place and it is very easy to break especially with child play. I've shown my daughter the books and she just stares at them, then looks away not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing?? Every baby is different so other babies will react differently i guess. If i'm honest i wouldn't purchase it after reviewing.

"Loved the books - not the mobile"

This is a cute set and comes nicely presented, with a box you can keep the books in. I like newborn things that have vivid black white and red since it holds their attention, being the only colors they can see at that newborn age. I put the mobile together and it took me a long time to figure it out - about half an hour! I was dissapointed with the quality - this is not going to last me through more than one child. I only buy things that are well made so they will last for all my children (current and future!) and hopefully grandchildren someday! The mobile is made of paper and string, and is already falling apart unfortunately. I have to keep it away from my 2.5 year old so he doesn't take it down and wrap the string around his neck or tear the thing apart. The books on the other hand are great. I would have been happy with those alone! The images are great and I like that there are different 'stages' however I prefer hard back books until the age of 2 and these are a little flimsy. Overall I wouldn't really buy this in the store unless I was able to get the books seperately. I wouldn't give this as a gift eitheir, since what new parent wants to waste time and energy assembling what should be a simple mobile?

"A lovely looking set "

I think this is very eye catching, it comes in a lovely looking bold sturdy box to keep it all together. My 7 month old does like to look at these but she also likes to suck on them so I think they would of been better if they were hardback. However I tried them with my 6 week old niece & it really caught her attention. They are very bold pictures which is good. I think the mobile was a little fiddly to assemble & is a little flimsy, unfortunately my 2 year old son ripped some of it within seconds after I left the room for 1 minute! I personally dont think I would buy it, but then I think I got it too late as my daughter was already 7 months old so was more interested in putting everythin in her mouth. So I never got to use it from birth.

"Good looking but fragile"

The books and mobile come in a sturdy good looking folder which is handy to keep them all together. The contents I found a little disappointing, the mobile is quite flimsy and a bit time consuming to construct (especially in a sleep deprived state with a demanding baby). The books themselves are full of bold patterns but the paper is quite thin and unlikely to withstand much baby sucking/handling. My daughter did look at the patterns but despite repeated attempts it has failed to grab her attention very much at all (this surprised me as I expected her to find them more interesting - but all babies are different so this may just be my little one) All in all it is superficially a good looking product and if your baby finds the bold patterns interesting they would probably love it but I wouldn't expect it to last very long.

"Fascinating For Baby!"

The package itself is really lovely (an ideal gift to give to anyone with a new baby). I know I would love to recieve it. The mobile was a little fiddly to assemble but it did keep my daughters attention especially when it was held over her head. I had trouble finding a place to hang it at first and eventually decided to hang it on the bedroom ceiling over where I usually change and dress her (this was a good idea as there seems to be less tears at changing time). Stacey is mesmerised by the images and most the time keeps her distracted long enough to get through changing her. I was sceptical about the black and white colouring and patterns on the books as I though it wouldn't really keep babies attention. I was really wrong, the books are a great bonding experience to share between Stacey and me (or any of the family). She loves looking at the pictures and patterns and they do seem to provoke a reaction in her. She has started making 'cooing' noises at some of her favourite images much to the delight of me and her brothers and sisters. At the moment she especially likes book 3 with the faces. This is and excellent item although at £11.99 it is a little more than I would usually pay for paperback books(I usually buy hard books for baby) the reaction you get from baby does outweigh the cost somewhat. Amazing reaction provoking books for baby!

"Nice books, flimsy mobile"

I'm not sure how much my baby is really looking at these books but they do seem to hold his attention for a little while (when he's not sleeping). I've always found it quite awkward showing books to a young baby - I never seem to have enough arms to hold both book and baby comfortably. My book mad two year old seems to like them though and to be honest I have looked at them more with her. We have been looking through them practising shape names. They do seem to hold her attention despite being simple. I struggled with where to put the mobile as you need to hang it from somewhere with the string so I just dangled it over the baby when he was in his chair which did result in a bit of arm ache. This also meant the mobile wasn't out of reach from the two year old and got demolished within about 2 days! I'm sure the two year old will get these books out again and I'll definitely show them to the baby when he is a bit older. I would be happy to receive this as a gift but I don't think I would have purchased it at the RRP.

"Nice packaging, but not good for an older baby."

I was really looking forward to opening this set as it was packaged very nicely. It came in a lovely folder with a ribbon tie, which makes a lovely gift. I opened and found a set of different black and white striking books which apparently is really good for capturing the attention of a newborn baby. The books were however not very durable for a baby of 9-10 months! she loved looking at them and we read them together but as soon as she held them she put them in her mouth they lasted no longer than a day! I think they are great for a very young baby but once past 4 months and sitting up more colourful and durable books are more suitable. I then looked at the mobile that was also included in the set, it looked flimsy and as I had to make the mobile up myself it was a bit of a pain to be honest, I am not the most patient person and it just got on my nerves, and also the fact that I really had nowhere to hang the mobile as my baby is now standing in her cot I think it felt like a waste of time, I did make it up and try to see if she liked it but I could not hang it anywhere in the house that was any use so she could see it or it was high enough out of her way so she would not grab it. If my baby was very young i think this would be a lovely gift as newborns do react to black and white, and the books are bold and noticable for a new baby. But for an older baby it is not really a suitable set.
