Laura Loves…Frugi Globetrotter Collection

Frugi Globetrotter Collection

Frugi is really fun, vibrant and ethical clothing brand that I have been fast falling in love with.

The garments are so colourful and bright, so yes, it looks fab on the kids, but it’s also really, really good quality – thick material, beautiful applique detailing and to top it off, it’s a lovely home-grown brand based in Cornwall so even more kudos for supporting our own!

Frugi clothing is designed to dress bumps, nursing mothers, babies, and your kiddiewinks’ needs right up to the age of ten.

Launching their new SS18 collection, we were invited to review a couple of their gorgeous pieces so with my big two (aged 4 and 6) we flicked through the brochure for them to select an item each.

Part of the issue in this was the breadth and choice, there’s a lot of clothing spanning from your rainy day coveralls, chunky outer layers, summer showstoppers and so much more.

The spring/summer range for this year is inspired by the ultimate globetrotting experience, a whimsical collection of travel and discovery-inspired designs so picture bright prints of colourful rainbows, dragons, galloping unicorns, and fun cityscapes.

With the recent cold snap we were more focused on warmth so we selected a boy’s fleece jumper and girl’s zip up to add to our collection (I imagine we’ll be back for more when the weather heats up!)

The first item is the boy’s Super Half Zip Jumper, £30. For me, this is classic Frugi – design wise it takes a traditional blue/grey Breton stripe and accentuates it with a fun colourful fire-breathing dragon on the sleeve.

This asymmetric element adds an intrigue and the way it sits creeping up on the arm is original.

It’s fun, and makes it a nice statement piece that livens up a pair of jeans or plain tracksuit bottoms.

The fleece material is warming and the high collar provides extra protection from the element to the neck.

Noah has been bounding about in this for weeks; it’s just the right thickness to sit nicely underneath a coat and on warmer days, when we have them, a good outer layer.

Grace opted for a Rosa Raglan Jacket, £32, a zip up that is one of those spring/autumn wardrobe essentials for throwing over a t shirt and layering up when there’s a chill in the air.

The lovely thing about this item is that it has the ability to make an outfit out of a really simple legging/t-shirt combo without any additional thought or effort.

The jacket is predominantly grey and navy, which means it will go with every denim item she owns, and the detailing comes in the form of a very on-trend, colourful rainbow splashed across the front.

It doesn’t look it, but it’s actually made from fleece, but finished slightly different so doesn’t have the fleece look or feel.

What it does meant though, is that it’s a heavier piece with more warmth and thickness. It’s also got plenty of stretch for a comfy fit.

I have previously reviewed Frugi clothing and two key points for me were the softness and quality of the clothing, I am really pleased to see that these elements remain at the heart of the items we reviewed.

The softness is particularly important next to baby’s skin, but lets not forget our older children too, even as adults we appreciate how comfortable and snug it feels to wear something soft.

And as for the quality, the cut and shape of the clothes sits perfectly on my children’s bodies.

The stitch is strong and seams well finished.

They also wash very well maintaining shape and colour and I feel confident that they will last not just for now, but be great items to hand down to younger siblings/friends.
