Laura Loves…Baby Dove

Dove baby

Dove is a brand I have grown up with and come to respect over the years, it plays on it’s ‘kind to skin’ ethos and they have embraced the human body in all its natural forms within its advertising.

With a 60-year heritage under their belt, they have finally ventured into the baby market with some fantastic new products simply called ‘Baby Dove’.

I was really pleased to see that Baby Dove is dermatologist tested and paediatrician approved, which means the products are kind and safe to use on baby’s skin right from newborn. Baby skin is so much more sensitive and delicate so I was worried it could be an existing Dove formula just badged up as a baby alternative but this really isn’t the case as it is pH neutral which minimises any reactions with baby’s more sensitive skin.

Baby Dove has focused on two collections – the ‘Rich Moisture’ and ‘Sensitive Moisture’. The products available are your essential everyday baby products so include Wipes, Head to Toe Wash, Moisture Lotion and Nappy Cream.

 Baby Dove moisture

We were sent some of the products to test. First up was the Nappy Cream; it has a mild familial scent to it, and thick consistency that I always look for. It comes in a tube, which I tend to prefer as it prevents double dipping ensuring it’s more hygienic. It is a cream that you pop on and will still see the coating on your baby’s bottom when you go to the next nappy change, which is reassuring in itself that it is providing that barrier between your baby’s skin and the contents of their nappy to prevent sores and nappy rash. It is very moisturising, and despite some messy nappies, we haven’t had any flare ups of sore skin as it’s become our daily barrier cream which has kept her bottom in perfect condition.

The Rich Moisture Wipes are hypoallergenic and alcohol-free. It’s hard to differentiate one pack of wipes from another, but what I personally do look for is the right level of moisture – too dry and it can be a little rough on baby’s bottom, and too wet it can sometimes all end up a bit of a soapy, soggy mess. These are plenty wet, without being too concentrated, even when you get to the end of the pack and I got on really well with them.

Baby Dove Shampoo

In addition to the essentials, Baby Dove have also collated some of these products to make a few beautiful gift sets that I think make a great beautifully-presented item for a baby shower or new mother gift. The ‘Mother & Baby Gift Set’, is fairly priced at £12 and includes a mix of products in a wash bag that is great for storing all your baby toiletries or handy for taking away on overnight trips.

The ‘My Baby’s Story Keepsake Box’ is my other favourite. Priced at £15 it has the full range of Baby Dove products along with some Dove-blue booties and the box is hard wearing enough to store all those precious baby items that you want to keep.

Overall I think it’s an excellent range, and very well priced especially as I consider the quality to be very fair.
