New Device Banishes Kegels Apathy

New Device Banishes Kegels Apathy

A device from the USA is set to make incontinence a thing of the past for some of the 3 - 6 million estimated sufferers in the UK.

The Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer® is the most advanced home-use pelvic floor exerciser available. It is also the first device of its kind in the world to be cordless, making it much easier to use, and more portable and discreet.

Every pregnant woman or mother knows that she should be doing Kegel exercises to strengthen her pelvic floor muscles and reduce the risk of incontinence or prolapse. But, as they are difficult and boring to do, many women simply give up trying before any effect is achieved.

The Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer automates these exercises to ensure that they are carried out correctly on the right muscles. The cordless design and small remote control makes the Athena easy to use, enabling women to perform pelvic floor exercises discreetly, anytime and anywhere with results in just eight-to-12 weeks.

Athena has already being used by thousands of women in the USA, with some of the following comments:

'Ever since I gave birth to a 10 lb. baby, I have had urinary incontinence when sneezing, jumping and laughing. I did Kegels on my own sporadically and finally came to accept this was a permanent condition. I faithfully used the Athena twice a day and after six weeks or so, I had absolutely no incontinence.'

"The pelvic muscle trainer itself has many advantages over classic exercises. Its adjustable voltage allows me to increase the intensity of contractions so that as my muscle strength improves I receive a greater benefit with each use. I would not be willing to part with it."

How the Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer works

The Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer electrically stimulates the supporting muscles and tissue of the pelvic floor to strengthen and tone. Pelvic floor electrical stimulation (PFES) has been used for many years in the treatment of incontinence and other pelvic floor disorders. The Athena electrically stimulates the pelvic floor muscles to perform Kegels automatically.

The Athena is made up of two simple parts:
Bullet  A small trainer, about the size of a tube of lipstick, which is inserted like a tampon.
Bullet  A remote control that allows the user to control the device.

The Athena has two settings to treat stress, urge, and mixed incontinence. The device is cordless and uses just three AAA batteries. It is removed from the remote controller, inserted like a tampon, started with a push of the ‘on' button and then begins a fifteen-minute workout of alternating cycles of muscle stimulation and muscle rest. At the end of the session it is removed, washed and put away for the next use.

The Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer is available from www.athenafem.co.uk at £169.00.

The Athena PMT, unlike other pelvic floor stimulators available, offers all of the following to women
Bullet  Wireless technology - with no wires, you have total control and freedom
Bullet  Easy to use - never worry about exercising the right muscles. Just insert and let the PMT strengthen the pelvic floor muscles using gentle stimulation
Bullet  Comfortable design - the small trainer is completely without cords for total comfort and minimum inconvenience.
Bullet  Dual-mode - with two pulse frequency settings, the Athena PMT can treat stress, urge, and mixed incontinence.
