The Coleman Spruce Falls 4 tent is a quality camping tent which scores highly when it comes to practicality. Not only is the tent lightweight and compact when folded away, but once erect it is very cleverly split into 3 sections: 2 blackout 'bedrooms' in the ends and a living space in the middle.
I have to be honest and say I'm not good at things like putting a tent up. Other ordinary, every-day tasks I struggle with include flat-pack furniture and hanging pictures on walls. That gives you some idea about my skill level, and yet I was able to (quite impressively, I think) put this tent up in a little over 30 minutes.
I would love to show you some photographs of me putting the tent up, but I'm afraid that would have been impossible since I did this single-handedly.
As you can see, the middle section has a window on one side (it comes with a velcro blind to black it out if need be) and the door on the other. I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the tent was. It's definitely bigger than the last 4-person tent I camped in, and this would fit 4 adults comfortably. As it happens, we tested it with 2 adults, a 4 year old and a 2 year old.
Whilst having two separate black-out bedroom sections wasn't something I would have thought of, I can honestly say that I wouldn't buy a tent that didn't have that option. If you're going with children, then being able to put them to sleep in the evening without rendering the entire tent a 'no-go' area, then it really is handy.
It wasn't long before the little ones wanted to start exploring :)
The rods are made from fibreglass, which is why (1) they are so light, and (2) they are strong enough to keep the tent up in a high wind. It was a nice, calm day as it happens, and I didn't even need to fasten all the loops and tie down all the strings (although I would recommend you do for obvious reasons!)
All in all we were very impressed with this tent and would definitely recommend it.
