Birds Eye recalls packs of chicken pies after accidentally putting beef in them

Birdseye

BIRDS Eye is urgently recalling packs of shortcrust chicken pies after accidentally putting beef in them.

The frozen food company has revealed that a small number of its boxes of 4xShortcrust Chicken Pies, which were all produced on a single day in October, were mistakenly filled with Birds Eye's steak pies.

The steak pies also contain mustard, which was not declared in the ingredients list.

This means the product could endanger customers with a food allergy or intolerance to mustard.

Shoppers who have bought the product are being urged to return it immediately for a full refund.

Affected chicken products are those with the barcodes L7301MRN52, L7301ARN52 and L7301NRN52 with a best-before date of March 2019.

To get their money back customers will need to send the batch code on the packaging to Birds Eye Limited Freepost, ADM3939, London, SW1A 1YS

Shoppers can also call 0800 33 22 77 for more information.

Birds Eye said that it can't confirm how many pies were affected.

A spokesperson for the company said: "At Birds Eye, the quality and safety of our products are of the utmost importance to us.

"We are reviewing our processes to ensure that this does not happen again and we would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to our consumers."

According to the recall notice, no other products from the company are known to be affected.
