"fun books" I read animal sounds with Liam and Jennifer, its a great fun, book whch we all enjoy. The pictures in the book are very colourful and the book is the perfect length, not too long so that they lose interest. I normally read the book and let the children take turns lfting the flap then they both make the animals noise, This is a great book to read wth your chldren, especially if you have more than one child because everyone can get involved. "maisy's nature trail" Charlie is 2yrs and loves maisy mouse so you can imagine his face when this book came through the door!
There are flaps and things to pull to make animals etc move. Charlie could do these himself after showing him once.
The colours are bright and there are things to find on each page.

"lovely simplistic book" 'Pigeon wants a puppy'
We were sent this to test and my trio love it. Adam[nearly 5] particularly loves the fact he can read it to his little sisters. The story has humour in it while being put across on a childs level. My 20mth old Chloe was not as interested in the story but it captured the attention of both adam and hannah who is 2.9yrs.
It is basically illustrated book so more is based on actually listening to the story than picking everything up from the pictures which is why it being aimed at over 3s is about right.
Lovely book that has become a favourite read in this house. Member review by michelle - mum to 3

"Maisy's Nature Trail" This book is fabulous. As soon as Jaidyn got her hands on it she wouldn't put it down.
It comes with a free mini nature trail book that your little one can colour in as they see each creature.
The book itself is great, there is something to be pulled on each page, pull the duck's tail to let it eat a bug, bull a tab to make the rabbits appear, another tab has a frog jumping (Jaidyn's favourite), while another opens out a flower. There are more things to discover, but you'll have to get the book to find out what they are!
Jaidyn needed a little help the first time she looked at the book, but once I showed her how to pull each tab she was away. Once she reached the end of the book she said "Reading it again" and proceeded to start all over again. I think she did this about a dozen times before putting in down!
Every time she picks it up she has to look through it at least 5 times, but only wants it read to her once lol, before putting it down.
It's full of bright colourful pages, just like you come to expect from a Maisy book. It really is a must for all Maisy fans and for little ones who love to interact with books. Member review by Yvonne - Mum to Jaidyn -2 & a bunch of others!

"Faces" Well ellie who is 2 seemed to enjoy this book, it goes through a list of expressions, sad, happy, tired, angry, cheeky etc. Pages have a facial expression and associated colours and words, also picture on opposite page in relation to the expression. Nice sized, bright colours and simple text.
Ellie would act out the sad, happy, cheeky, angry and tired and i was quite enthusiatic in doing so. I was quite surprised how well she picked the phrases up and was able to demonstrate the action. I feel some of the other expression she was unsure of like jealous/proud tho would comment on pages and what was on them eg: bricks for proud. I think it would be a great book to use in getting the child to point how they are feeling. Even my 7yrs old had a read too and has sat there with ellie reading it together and watching them bo act out the expressions has been quite amusing.
Thanks Walkers Books for letting me review this book.

"Lovely book!"
PIGEON WANTS A PUPPY!
This is the book that my eldest son, Kian (who is 3.5 years old) has. We received it about a week ago & as soon as it arrived I had to read it to Kian. His little brother Lucas (14 months) joined in & sat on my knee too! The book is aimed at children over 3 years & I would say this is about right. The pictures aren't really that colourful & are quite basic but at the age he is, Kian was more interested in the story! There aren't that many words on the page & the book is basically the pigeon talking to your child, which is great as it gets your child interacting with the book! There is also some humour in the book in some of the things that pigeon says which Kian found hilarious!
I have read this book to Kian many times over the past week & he can't get enough of it! It really is a firm favourite in our house & I think it will continue to be even when he starts reading himself, as the letters are so big & there are not too many words on a page!
All in all a great book for over 3's.

"Educational & Fun!" We have read the book Faces, teaches children all about different emotions and how to express them. The book covers emotions sad, happy, scared, tired and cheeky. My daughter loves this book and it has taught her how to express how shes feeling, she will now frown and say sad, smile and say happy etc. She will sit there for ages reading it from cover to cover herself, shes only 2 and she recognises all the expressions in the book now. "A heartwarming tale" Izzy was lucky to receive this lovely tale from Walker books, and it instantly became a favourite! I will need to add the pictures to my blog, but Izzy insists on bringing her penguin over to read the story and act it out as it's being read to her with him. She interacts with the story, blowing raspberries, and singing and dancing as the story dictates. Once we have finished we have to go back to the beginning and read again, and if we don;t she reads it to her penguin!!
We love this book, simple enough that Izzy (20 months) can follow, detailed enough that there is a story to enjoy. The illustrations are lovely and tell the story well. What's not to Love!! Member review by Alison - Mum of one

"Very colourful" Krissi & I recently received 'Animal Sounds - Flip the Flap' book to reveiw.
Krissi realy enjoyed pointing out the different animals & telling me what they were & the noises eace animal made. It isn't too long so good for young children with short attention spans. The pictures are simple & very colourful so that keeps their attention for longer too.
So all in all I think this book is great! Member review by Jessica - Mum to Krissi age 2 & have a little boy due in November.

"Look Out, Suzy Goose" What a lovely short story.
Its a nice hard book cover with glossy pages, easy to turn pages (well my little one can get them better than me hehe)
The illustrations are lovely and simple and look as though a youngster could have drawn them.
Nice big letters for little ones to read. The story is nice and simple too, no complexities and easy to follow. Has great sound effects that does not make the reader sound silly or self consious saying them out loud (suzy goose walking away -- flip flop, flip flop)
my 16month old loves this book. he looks for it in the morning, and we read it 3 times before getting out of bed. when he sees all the geese, he turns and looks at me and shapes his mouth as though he is trying to be a goose and say 'honk honk' (soo cute) he like to point at the animals that follow suzy as well.
all in all i'd give this book a 5 out of 5. i know it is a little bit big for my son, but even at his age he understands it, likes the sounds and the pictures, and i can see us having lots of future enjoyment from this book :D Member review by Debbie - single mum of one beautifull boy

"Little Bear books by Martin Waddell"
There are 5 books in the Little Bear series:
Can't you sleep, Little Bear?
Let's go home, Little Bear
You and Me, Little Bear
Well done, Little Bear
Sleep Tight, Little Bear
We bought them all as a box set for my daughter's second birthday and still read them regularly now almost two years later. The books are all about everyday activities and situations so children can really relate to Little Bear and the things he does. They are great for bedtime as the stories are very gentle, so perfect for reading in a quiet, soothing voice. Barbara Firth's illustrations are gorgeous. We enjoy looking at them together and seeing what Little Bear is up to.
My daughter has always loved listening to the Little Bear stories, and although I've read them many times, I still really enjoy reading them to her. Member review by Suzanne - Mum to 2 girls

"Where's My Teddy? by Jez Alborough"
This is my 15 month old daughter's favourite bedtime story. We read it every night and she also looks for it in the morning when we wake up. The story is about a little boy, Eddy, looking for his lost teddy bear, Freddy, in the woods. The rhyming text is great. It flows really well and is lovely to read. Although aimed at older children, the text is quite short, which is why my little girl likes it so much. We actually bought this for our eldest daughter when she was 2. She loved it then and still likes reading it now she's 4, except now she tries to read it herself!
The illustrations are wonderful. They fill the whole page, with just small boxes for the text, so the bear seems really big when you open the page!
There are a couple of other books in the series too. They are longer, so are better suited to older children (2+). They are very, very funny, and always make me and my eldest daughter laugh.

The book is great quality with fantastic pictures. The short stories are just long enough to keep my 9 month old entertained and my 8 year old daughter enjoys reading all of the stories. The elephant characters are likeable and quite funny.
We've had the book for ages now and its been well read but has stood the test of time and is still in good condition :-) Member review by julie - Julie, mum to 4
