"Peace of mind in a box"
From the very start the VTech Clear Sounds Digital Deluxe baby monitor looked very impressive, with it's clean simple design it would look great in any nursery & with it’s list of available functions it had something that would appeal to everyone.
Once the initial charge had been completed it was time to go through the set up which was simple & easy to do. The unit comes with both rechargeable batteries & a mains adapter unit.
Despite all the many functions that companies try to entice you with, the main thing a parent looks for in a monitor is excellent sound quality & the VTech baby monitor definitely lives up to it’s claim of digital quality sound & zero interference. Not once during a week of testing did we lose signal or quality of sound, even when tested in the garden which naturally gave us huge peace of mind knowing that if the boys woke up we would always hear them. In addition in the unlikely hood that you did go out of range the parent unit would beep & the link light would flash.
It also comes with a sound level indicator so if you want the volume down a light would move up & down to indicate the noise level. The only thing I would have liked with the sound indicator was if it had changed colour (from blue) if the noise reached a high level but this is just a personal thing.
Within the functions there are 50 melodies which can be activated remotely from the parent unit & set to play just one, all songs or set your own time limit. They have also included nature sounds which are really good, so much so that my boys liked listening to them during the day. If you are very brave it also has a record function so that you can sing & record your own lullabies etc to soothe your baby with.
I especially liked the ‘Line in Function’ which means that you can connect your MP3 player to the unit so that you can play any music or even audio stories for your baby to enjoy & relax to.
The parent unit cleverly acts as a remote control in which you can control not only the lullabies but the night light & also change the sensitivity levels etc. It also has a talkback function which was useful to talk/reassure the boys through if you, for example, were in the garden.
There is also a temperature monitor which also usefully has a sound alert if the temperature falls below the limits you have set. You can also set feeding time pattern which is really useful if you're trying to feed your baby at regular intervals. All functions have a default level which again can easily be adjusted to your own preferences.
Overall this monitor is easy to use, has excellent sound quality, a clear screen that is easy to see even in low light & great functions that assisted us in these early days of being new parents.
