"Educational learning!"
I was asked to review the VTech Challenger Laptop which has an age guide of 4-7 years.

Whilst this toy has lots that you can do on it including; French, English, Maths & Artistic lessons, I think its rather advanced for the targeted age group.

Both of my daughters were keen to play with this, as the toy looks really impressive, complete with its own mini mouse & mousemat, although unfortunately they both found it difficult to get to grips with and gave up quickly. Me & my Husband also had a few problems getting to grips with the controls and the various exercises avaliable. The instructions for each game or learning exercise are not immediately obvious and Pressing the 'help' button gave us the answer as opposed to the instructions or clues.

We as a family, also found that the screen was a little on the small size and being a non-colour screen was difficult to make out.

On the plus side both the girls felt grown up using the laptop, the fact that it looks very similar to the 'real' thing and comes complete with mouse & mousemat gave it an overall grown up feel. So even if they couldn't fully understand the games and the lessons being taught, they still very much enjoyed using the laptop. The mouse is an ideal size for little hands aswell.

All in all, it is a good toy, am not 100% convinced it is worth the money that is charged for it, however it may just be a case of it being more suitable to older children who are are doing more indepth lessons at school, as I feel that this would really aid in revision, homework and general preperations for school work, from a junior age upwards.
