"Nice quick read with lots of useful information"

I initially thought that this was going to just be another self-help guide, but on reading it have found it to offer some very useful advice. Would probably suit a family with older children better as many of the ideas relate to dealing with kids who can understand what you are saying and say things back! Still, it does also refer to relationships with other members of the family. A lot of the ideas are common sense, but often those of us with young families don't have time to use common sense!

"Worth a Read"

A very quick and easy to read book with a lot of useful information. Much of it is common sense but there are a few handy hints and ideas in there, although much of it should be things we should know already. May be useful for anyone finding parenting particularly difficult. However, I thought it was worth the read and it acts as a good reminder, which I think we need sometimes!

"60 minute family"

I thought the idea of making the book quick and easy to read was a good one - most people can spare 60 mins for themselves after the kids are in bed.

The ideas are ok, but they are things that we already do anyway, as someone else said the ideas are mainly common sense.

The book is set out well, easy to read chapters with bullet point ideas.

Might be a good buy for the people who rely on self-help books, but I wouldn't have bought it.

"intresting read"

Well im not really a big reader as i dont usually have time to, so to be able to read the book in 60 mins was great. From a mans point of view this book gave me a lot of new ideas but most of which my wife already does. I found the book to take a very light hearted approach compared to other self help books which made it an easy read. if i was to go looking for a self help family book i would definately buy this and it is reasonably priced to.

"nothing i didnt know already"

to be honest i dont 'do' reading, so was very please at the tgought i could read it in an hour. although i didnt read it all in one sitting, i read a chapter here and there.

it was a fairly easy to read book, but it didnt tell me anything i didnt already know.

its basically common sense, that to make the most of family time planning is essential, and put other things on hold and put your family first. however there were a couple of silly ideas in there that i wouldnt have thought of such as making a 'camping out' night by all sleeping on the living room floor and making it into an adventure, and calling each other different names for a day, which i imagine are quite appealing things for young children to do and makes mummy and daddy a bit more childlike and fun.

it was interesting enough to read and see that what im already doing is recognised as being right, but as far as a self help book goes, im not so sure.

"an ok book.."

This is a "common sense" book i would say. Some of the things it suggests are what anyone with half a braincell wold think of. Like making time for your children and listening and talking blah blah blah. There are some good ideas in it like making a family tree out of photos and getting your child involved which I hadnt thought of before. I dont think I would recommend this book in all fairness thought as it is pretty much common sense.

"good advice for parents"

I am pleased that the sixty minute family is as a sixty minute read. I found it gave some useful ideas some of which we are using and some that I had forgoton about!! It takes a light hearted look at everyday issues and makes useful sugestions. I would recommend this book as it based on real life not the 'perfect family image'. As a man the fact that it takes 60 minutes to read makes the best advice book available.

"An excellent and fast read!"

I was a little put off by the idea of a self help book if I'm honest but I shouldn't have worried at all. The idea of this book is that if you are quick you should be able to read it in sixty minutes. An idea that I laughed at when I looked at it for the first time, I thought as a Mum of a 15 month old maniac (sorry I mean lovely daughter), I'll be lucky if I have read it in sixty days! But here I am only two days after it arriving having read it and posting my review.

I found The Sixty Minute Family a genuine and sensitive book. It was a very easy read as it's so well written, it's smooth and eloquent. And so perceptive. I needed this book without even knowing it. It's filled with associable stories form other real life familes going through the same things as me or people I know and has reachable ideas as solutions. I loved the action points at the end of each chapter which were just simple ideas for you and your family to do to help or just for fun.

I'm so pleased that I read this book as even though some of it is just common sense you sometimes need it to be put there in front of you to really see it and it's not a book that I'd have picked up. I would've have missed out.
