"Very awkward to use"
I found this carrier extremely awkward to use for my baby whilst I am on my own. i think it is definitely for use for an older toddler or when you have someone to help you!

"Its just so practical!"
My 10 month old daughter was getting too heavy to wear in our front carrier and my back was taking strain so I was happy to have an alternative solution which still allowed me to carry her. I grew up in South Africa, and this great carrying style is what attracted me to this product as I was carried this way as a child by my Xhosa nanny.
When I first starting using the Sanamama, I needed some help getting it on because I was used to a front carrier but I soon got the hang of it and it is actually really easy to use because there are just a few buckles to clip into place rather than loads of fiddly straps. My daughter also got used to it after a few tries. They do say in the user manual that it can be a little tricky at first; I got the hang of it after no time at all.
It is really comfortable and looks good as well and the best thing for me is having the front of my body and my hands free. My daughter loves it and snuggles in with her head resting against my back. I imagine it to be as warm and comforting as my early years with my nanny. Given the price of some of the baby carriers I think this is a great product offering good value for money because I can use it for a long time. The fact that it fits in your handbag is just magic - what other baby carrier can do this? I have just ordered one for my sister in South Africa as well, as her second is on the way and she needs all the free hands she can get! Thanks for a wonderful product Sanamama!

"Too fiddly!"
On first impressions, the carrier seemed like a good concept; allowing the child to be nice and close whilst keeping mummy's hands free....
However, I found it almost impossible to get my little boy safely strapped in then manoeuvre the carrier onto my back. With help from a friend I eventually managed it but he clearly didn't like it. It was far too low slung, my little one couldn't see anything bar the back of my head and it feels incredibly flimsy.
Upon inspection, I was shocked at the RRP of this product. I certainly wouldn't consider buying or using the carrier.

"Good quality and secure"
I couldn't fault the design. It seems really good quality and secure for the child although I thought the rrp was a bit steep.
I tried several times with my son who is a very active 17 month old. I have had a couple of goes at this, he was happy when I put him in, but I struggled to get him on my back, when he was up there he was not very happy. I think he found it very restricting.
I think if he had been introduced to it at an earlier age I think he would have been much more happier in it.

"a bit fiddly"
When i tried to get my daughter in it was a bit tricky, as she is such a wriggler then getting her on my back was even harder. But i was very shocked at how comfy it felt with the padded shoulder straps so that was very good. I liked the closeness of her being on me like that. It also seems very quality and well built but im afraid thats where the good points end. When i first put my girl in she was giggling but then she went a bit quiet so i looked in a mirror and could barely see her as she had slid into it, she isnt tiny but she is not very big, and i kept feeling like i had to hold her underneath her bum as if i was giving her a piggy back even though i knew she was safe.. And the weather was quite nice when she went in it and we both got rather hot which i dont think is good, so really it seems it can only be used properly in winter.
When i seen the retail i was a bit surprised, although it is good quality i personally wouldnt pay that price as unfortunately for me there are more cons than pros...

"difficult to use on your own"
I recently received the Sanamama baby carrier and couldn't wait to try it out on my clingy 14 month old.
when it arrived it looked quite simple to use, but this was not the case.
It was easy to put the baby into the sling, but actually getting the sling onto myself with a 14th month old in it, on my own was not an easy task.
When i finally managed to do it, my daughter was fine for a while but after a bit she seemed to get a bit restless and kept fidgeting. I think maybe if i had been using one from a young age, then this wouldn't have been the case as she would of been used to it. But as shes a bit older and its not something she is used to, I think this made things more difficult, which is a shame as i was looking forward to using this product as my daughter doesnt like to be left in a room on her own.
However, i would reccomend this product to a parent with a newborn as i think it would be very beneficial. I also think it is worth the rrp.
But unfortunately for me, this product was unsuitable.
