"Good value for town centre"
We stayed at The Big Sleep Hotel in Cardiff. It's very nicely situated in the centre of cardiff, but away from the noisier streets.

Never having been to a Big Sleep hotel before we didn't really know what to expect. The first thing we noticed was the decor. It's very modern, Ikea-like, and different from previous hotels we stayed in.

The one possible problem encountered was the parking, it's very limited for a hotel it's size, and if you park outside of the allocated spaces for the hotel, you WILL get clamped. However there is an NCP car park just next door, so all isn't lost, but you will have to pay NCP prices for that. Luckily for us there was one space available when we arrived.

The check in was very straight forward and the receptionists friendly and informative.

The room itself was of a nice size with a big king size bed. The decor again was very modern, white and crisp. There were wall length windows across two of the walls with great views over the city, and these had funky woolly curtains! The bathroom wasn't as modern as expected, but was clean and tidy nevertheless. The other problem with this hotel is that it's situated next to a railway line, and, even though we were on the 8th floor, I could still here the trains going past into the early hours. But then being pregnant at the mo, I am a light sleeper, and it didn't keep my partner awake.

Breakfast was included in the price of the room, so we headed down the next morning, again not knowing what to expect. The initial impression here was that it reminded us of a hostel! There were people sat around with plastic trays, watching the big TV. Was a very relaxed atmosphere compared to other hotels. The breakfast was a help-yourself continental style consisting of cereals, toast, crumpets, boilded eggs, fruit, yoghurts, tea, coffee and juice. It looked like they usually did croissants etc, but that part was empty, so they must have run out. As it was help-yourself, it was easy to get filled up.

All in all it's a very modern, stylish hotel, and ideally placed for the city centre with the price of the room, including breakfast, being very competative for it's location.
