"Somthing I may find on Grannys bookcase!!"

When I got the book I was really impressed, the cover looks lovely and I loved the colour of the book, but I was very quickly off put by there being no pictures to show you what things looked like and it being extremely wordy.
There are some lovely hints in the book and the recipes are easy to use and taste very nice (although nothing I cooked rose so didn't look as good as it tasted!!)
I have to say for me it's not something I would instantly connect with a baby or parents; it is something I may find hidden on my Grandma's bookcase. I don't know many mothers of 7 month olds that would find time to "do tea", perhaps I'm missing out!! I just felt I was not the book's target audience, but I'm not really sure who that would be.
There are 3 different apple cake recipes that really aren't that different (we made two and except the spices and chunks of apple they are the same) and 8 pages of sandwich recipes. These included ones for marmite, cheese and marmalade; I just don't feel I need a book to tell me that sort of thing.
I also found some things hard to find. For example one of the over 40 sandwich recipes is for "anchovy paste" but the recipe for the paste is buried away in another section and it is not listed in the index. I think that the layout of the book compounds the confusion and difficulty in finding things.
I wouldn't buy this book at normal retail price, at the moment I need quick and easy meals and high tea is just not high on my agenda!!

i was really chuffed to get this as i love cooking and baking and it had so many things i love and have made before i think the price is a reasonable one too great ideas in there for parties plenty for children and adults to enjoy, only downside is shame there isnt any proper photos of the food that would of been lovely apart from that fantastic book!

"simple yet detailed"

I have a few cookery books, but I find this to have some really good tips on saving time:)
Really good twists on simple food that can be made fun for the little ones too, just wish it had arrived before the big birthday party.
