"excellent product"
Speekee is a spanish language programme designed for children. The box set contains 4 dvd's and and a cd with songs in spanish and a booklet to guide the parent through the dvd's. When my two boys first sat down to watch this they were very excited. Ten minutes into the first dvd they had already picked up 3 words in spanish. Hola, adios and ben vien. Even my younger daughter aged two was engaged as the character speekee is a lovable fun character. The episodes are in different settings such as at the park, at the cafe, at home and at the zoo. The songs are also very enjoyable and quite catchy!
I believe this is an excellent tool for children to learn another language and the fact that it is entertaining and very engaging makes the product well worth its price. As an adult I also enjoyed watching the dvd's and picked up words that I didnt previously know. It also gave me a chance to do something with my childen that was fun but at the same time giving us a great chance to pick up another language. The dvd's do need to be watched a few times over to get a good grasp of the language, which I cant see being a problem as the programmes are very entertaining and enjoyable to watch.

"Speekee Spanish Language Course"
The product comes in a neat little plastic box, consisting of a dvd box with 4 dvds (10 episodes altogether plus a dvd with the songs only), a cd with the songs and a booklet.
I wasn't sure whether this language course would cause much more interest amongst my kids than Muzzy. They happily watch anything (as kids do), but not much seemed to stick after watching Muzzy.
Was Speekee any better then, you'll wonder?
And yes, it was! Speekee itself is a very lovable character which leads through the program with his puppet friends and lots of kids (native speakers). The episodes are short, and try not to push too much learning content into one. It feels more like fun than learning, really. It helps that everybody seems to be very happy and there are lots of upbeat songs which you cannot get out of your mind. My 5 year old daughter was singing parts of the songs after watching the dvds only a few times, and she pronounced it quite well! Even my 4 year old son, who isn't given to singing, has been heard singing one of the songs. And they both love to listen to the CD in the car.
I questioned them whether they knew what the words meant they were singing, and having watched the DVDs before seems to give them quite a good grasp on what the song is about.
If you want to give your child a chance to learn another language from a very early age on (and Spanish is the most common language after Chinese) then I'd consider buying Speekee. I think it's the best starting product for young kids I have seen so far.

"a great system"
I was sceptical about this product but have been surprised. The programme consists of dvds to watch and a cd to listen to. The first time I put it on Dylan answered/ repeated words in the spaces left without any intervention from me. He happily watched the dvd and understood what was being said.
Chloe also joined in (even though she is older than the recomended age).
The dvds are broken into little sections - for example 'at the park'.
I think the system is an excellent introduction to Spanish especially if the parent is watching as well and uses some of the learnt Spanish with their child.
After watching a couple of times Dylan was using and pronouncing some of the words.
I think this is worth the money if the parent/carer also invests time in watching with their child and reinforcing the learnt words.
The character used is easily recognisable and non threatening which helps the children recognise when to join in. The character is also fun and Dylan was laughing whilst watching.
