"Great for helping to teach a young child to jump rope" This is a toy that any young active child will enjoy. The minimum age advertised is 3+, but after trialling this toy with my ‘almost’ 4 year old, and her friend of four and a half, I would personally recommend this one for a minimum of 4, based on the coordination required when skipping.
It’s a very easy toy to put together, and comes very compact, packaged in its own carry handled box. Sand or water is required to weight the main base unit down (which is the carry case itself). Once together, my daughter was very taken to the music and counting game that accompanies this toy. The counting game counts each skip in turn, compared to the music where you have to keep skipping to keep the music playing.
It’s a very good way of helping a young child learn to skip when there is only one adult/older child present, as the older person would swing the rope for the child to skip, however, once the child has indeed learnt to skip I don’t feel this toy would benefit them unless other accessories were bought (i.e. for a double rope to be used etc.) For me, this toy didn’t pass the ‘test of time’, it is a pure learning toy, once that learning curve has passed, then the toy would be cast aside as the child would prefer to have a detached rope and have freedom of movement whilst skipping.
