"Excellent book"
Frank and Teddy make friends by Louise Yates
Excellent book that my 3 year old loved to listen to and my 15 months old was excited looking at the pictures.
Really good story about a little mouse called Professor Frank Mouse who was very shy and wanted to make new friends, so he decided to make his very own friend out of things he found and collected.
His friend teddy comes alive and helps Professor Frank mouse make things.
One day when `mouse was out collecting things teddy decided to make something as a surprise but instead of making something he broke things and made a great big mess.
When mouse returned he was angry and sent teddy outside into the garden to think about what he's done, but mouse couldn't help thinking about teddy outside all alone.
but teddy wasn't alone he was helping the bees and the birds and making friends. From them on Frank and Teddy made many things together including lots of friends.
Excellent book, we all loved it. 5*

"Fantastic book! - Katie Morag delivers the mail"
This is a really lovely book. We hadn't read any of the Katie Morag books before and we have fallen in love with them. My 2 year old loved me reading this to her she kept interest the whole way through. She had great fun spotting things in the beautiful illustrations whilst I was reading - it gave us plenty to talk about and get her iteracting with the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone whose children love books, it is good value for money and will be read time and time again.

"Funny Poet Book"
Morris the Mankiest Monster - by the ever most fabulous Author Giles Andreae.
Reading this book to my two year old daughter (who I hasten to add slightly resembles Morris the Mankiest Monster) she was somewhat amused by the colourful and unusual illustration that only Sarah Mcintyre can acheive in such a wonderful way.
She was absolutely bemused at the front page that illustrates the monster clawing some sort of bodily fluid from his nostril, as she is at the toddler stage at poking all body parts and remembering the names, the part which describes his teeth as having fresh slugs in them does enable me to brush the imaginary slugs out of her tiny teeth without chasing her all over the house!!
Poet style writing totally catches my 8 year old sons imagination, he is currently covering poem style writing at school and the clever, creative expression in Giles Andreaes' words just leave him in hysterics every time.
The Pictures and descriptive detailing which are absolutely hilarious just makes this such a good book to buy, more so for for School age children.
However, the rhythm and rhyme sounds that come from my voice when reading this to my daughter does catch her attention as she tries to mimick the ending words!!! - Do this as a miniature board book then most babies will probably have this in there pram!
An overall great book, we loved it.

"Little Red Train - To the Rescue!"
This book is really fantastic. It is classically illustrated with lovely drawings throughout and so many details to talk through with your child. The images remind me of the books I would read as a child myself and the story is just great - lots of twists and turns - but everything comes right in the end. The book is a paperback but it feels like really good quality as it has been printed specially with raised glossy imaging and letters on a smooth cover. I highly recommend this book it is worth every penny and I will be going out to buy the rest of the series for my little one in time for Christmas.

"My Mum"
This is a lovely little book, full of colour and bold words. For a little mind, i think this is great at teaching younger children about thier mummy, it also makes the mummy feel good too.
My daughter loves this book, in fact, she had me read it to her over and over again!

"My Mum"
This book is beautifully illustrated. It tells the story from a child’s perspective of their mum.
Both my child and i loved the pictures however there wasn't much of a story and is probably better for toddlers (mine are 5 years and 4 months).

"Little Red Train: Race to the Finish"
We have several Little Red Train books at home and my daughters love them all, so they were very excited when we were sent a new book, Race to the Finish, to review. In the story, the Little Red Train and his driver Duffy are challeneged to a race by the new fast Swish train drivers. The story is a lovely one, with the Little Red Steam Train and his helpful passengers managing to beat the new Swish train to the finish line. The story follows a pattern so children can join in and predict what is going to happen next, and also start to join in with the story telling too.
Just like other Little Red Train stories, Race to the Finish has wonderful illustrations. There is so much for children to look at in the pictures and it is fun to try and spot what is happenening. I especially like the fact that some of the story is told through the illustrations - if you look carefully, you can see the nasty swish train drivers pouring oil on the tracks and changing signals to try and make the Little Red Tarin lose! My daughters love this and even though we have read the story many times now, they still have to search for the drivers in the pictures!
This is lovely book which any toddler would enjoy reading. I highly recommend it.

"Alfie Wins A Prize"
My 4 (almost 5) year old loves this book. We've read it the past 3 nights and still find things to talk about. It's a lovely story, with well drawn and colourful illustrations. Some pages have quite a lot of text in them, but there is enough going on in the illustrations to occupy smaller people.
The story is relevant to the age group and has a good positive message or two hidden in there (thinking of others, sharing etc.)
Having read this Alfie book, I will be looking at getting a few others from the series.

"silence seeker"
The Silence Seeker was sent for me and my children to review. It is a beautiful book very well illustrated but was not really suitable for my age of children 4,3 and 7months. It was about a boy whose neighbour is an asylum seeker but I found the book confusing with no clear message. It was well illustrated but I couldnt tell if the book was meant to be set in inner city London or America. Overall I think the book went over my childrens heads and will not be reading this to them until they are older.

"Little Red Train To the Rescue"
My little girl loves this book and keeps bringing down from her bookshelf with a "Chuff-Chuff"
It tells a lovely story of Little Red Train making an eventful journey to Birchcombe Village and meeting all sorts of people and problems on the way.
The illustrations are beautiful and colourful and really bring the book to life.
There is quite a lot of repeation of Chuffity-Chuff but my little one loves it and joins in everytime!!!
Highly reccomended.

"Super Daisy"
This is the latest Super Daisy book and this time she is saving planet earth from a collision with planet pea using her super interplanetary pea-popping punching power.
The book is made well and has split pages and pull tabs which my daughter loved as she was able to join in with the story. I feel this book would also be good for new readers.

"Rosie's walk"
This is a story about a hen called Rosie who goes for a walk around the yard. She is followed all the way by a fox but she doesnt notice even though the fox has a series of mishaps. Monique who is 21 months thinks this book is hilarous & giggles at every accident the fox has. This has quickly become one of her favourite books.

"Follow that string"
This book is for ages 10months+ because of small parts - it has a long length of string threaded through the book with a cardboard key attached at the end of it.
This book was too young for Oliver (who was 4months at the time of review). There were some fiddly card flaps to lift up and look under etc and it did not keep his attention.
On the plus side for an attentive toddler they would probably enjoy tracing the shapes/string with their finger (following that string!) and the paper is good quality and looks like it could be wiped clean. It also has bright colours to attract childrens attention too
The book costs £6.99 which is about the going rate for childrens books now.

"A Small Suprise, by Louise Yates"
This book is for pre-school, but even I found it difficult to read. I had to read it 3 times to understand what the story was about, the fonts used is not appropriate for learning purposes, the layout is confusing, and a lot of the pages are just too busy.
My 2year old read it with me once and he hasnt went back to it since, and thats not like him.

"biscuit bear"
This is a lovely story written by Mini Grey and accompanied by an audio cd narrating the book, read by Mark Gatiss. The story is all about a biscuit bear and his night time adventure. He decides to bake himself some friends, and they are having a fantastic time untill bongo the dog stumbles upon them in the kitchen and eats them all....except for biscuit bear who escapes and decides he needs to find somewhere safe for a bear to be!This is such a great story, with a happy ending too. The illustrations are fantastic and so detailed, along with the narration cd you really do feel like you are there. My three year old daughter and two year old son- who usually fight over everything, love this book and will sit happily together looking at it. We have had the book for some time now and both still love it. Highly recommended!

"GRUMPY DAD"
oh what a story! i loved, loved, loved it! both Nathan and i enjoyed how the story went and i was particularly happy by the way it was written as it allowed even the most reserved reader to really interact and get into the character and tone of the book. intonation was quite a big feature of this book and there was no way you could read it aloud and not get into character....lol
my husband and i agreed that there should be one called 'Grumpy Mom' cos he thinks there was more of me in the book than him...lol
would totally recommend this book to anyone who was nervous about their storytelling ability...

"EVIL WEASEL"
I received Evil Weasel to review with my children.
It is about a weasel who is very rich and nasty to everyone. He has a party and nobody comes. He decides to rectify all he has done wrong and makes friends with those who dislked him. Then he has another party for his friends.
Cole - 4yrs - decided he didnt like weasel, but he said if he said sorry it would make everything better and he would make some friends.
Kira - 6yrs - said she knew someone like weasel and they should do what weasel did and they might have more friends.
Both of them sat through the story nicely, listening and pointing out funny things in the pictures.
I think the story is great and the pictures are very well drawn with little bits put in there for the parent to enjoy.
Great book and I will be reading it a few more times yet.

"`Knight Time`"
My 4 year old, 2 year old and 1 year old all loved this book. They will listen to it over and over and over.
The book is full of surprise flaps with pictures hidden under them and has parts that have textures added to the pages. The middle has a big pull out of the woods at night.
An absolute favourite in our house and a fab read.

"The Saddest King"
My Son loved this book. It's meant to be aimed at 5years+ but my oldest is nearly 4 and he was mesmerised.
The pictures are full of detail that never fail to provide new finds and the story is the right length that he didnt get bored and kept him interested in what was going to happen next.
He has asked for this book to be read to him for 3 nights in a row now, so it must be a hit!

"Is This My Nose?"
As soon as this arrived Jaidyn was clambering over me to read it.
It's bright and appealing to toddlers (Jaidyn will make me read it about 10 times before she'll even contemplate getting off my knee!)
Each page asks a question like "Can you find your eyes, eyes, eyes?" with a picture of animal and a picture of a baby pointing to the appropriate feature. At the end the final question is "Can you find the mirror, mirror, mirror?" and you (or your toddler) lifts a flap to reveal a mirror. Jaidyn loves the mirror and at first she would turn the pages quicker than we could read and point out features just to get to the mirror. Now she'll happily go through the whole book and then spend ages pointing at the parts of her face while looking in the mirror. She even gets her cuddly toys and points out their features.
I think this is a book that no toddler should be without and I think I can safelt say Jaidyn does too
