"Great for all the family"

I had reservations about this book when I saw what some of the ingredients were, but I was extremely and pleasantly surprised after trying several of the recipes.
As my eldest is incredibly fussy and husband has IBS, (and fussy about food beyond belief), I was doubtful that they would enjoy them.....how wrong can I be?
The methods are very easy to follow and as a Mum who likes to cook from scratch, many of them are easy to prepare.
The favourite of the family is Roast Belly of Pork with orange and cloves. Despite extremely quick to prepare, it is well worth the 6 hours cooking time.

"Yummy!"

I thought that I would like to do a credible review seeing as this is my first review and so thought I would be best trying some of the recipes out in order to make this review credible.

I always find it difficult to choose which recipe to do from a new book but this book kind of turns that dilemma on it's head, instead, I went to the section based on what I had in the fridge which happened to be a bag full of lemons... Hence, this review is based on lemon cake, lemon drizzle cream pots, lemon syrup and the lemon chicken rice salad!!

This is all made easy as the recipes interlink so that you can be versatile with your main ingredient which is fab for me as I have no imagination when it comes to food. A bit like being a cook on ready steady cook when they make 5 dishes in 30 minutes from about 5 ingredients! You too can be food savvy!!

I am well impressed with my lemon cake, even the goddess of cake baking (my mum) was visibly impressed & that's tough going!

I can't wait to try some more - I really like how you can just buy a few ingredients and make something for each course and the gift ideas in this book are really lovely too.

Obviously no expense has been spared on the photography as this in itself is very enticing!

Would definitely share the knowledge on this little gem!

"So easy to follow"

I was so excited when I got this book as it could have been written for me!
I try to cook from scratch to avoid additives, but find it can be quite time consuming. This book shows you lots of ways to cut corners, and be prepared for more than one dish with just simple tweaking.
I read this book from cover to cover and loved all the tips to save time, such as 'always roast two chickens as this uses the same electricity and time, but leaves you ready to make tomorrows meal simply.'
I love the way the book is sectioned into categories which give a number of recipes using one key ingredient, so if you have a glut of rhubarb, or tomatoes for example, you need not make the same recipe twice, but will manage to use it all up!!!
Each recipe links naturally to the others in the book, with markers to show you where to find each ingredient. There are suggestions for swapping ingredients to acheive different flavours, and hints on how to freeze or store the various dishes.
Everyone I have shown this book to has dashed home to order it for themselves, this will definitely become one of my most used recipe books.

"Fabulous idea!"

What a great idea for a cookery book! I love the idea of cooking one thing that can then be used for many different meals! There are some lovely recipes inside and I cannot wait to try them out. The quIity of the book is lovely and has some great photos. The recipes are very easy to follow and are laid out perfectly. It also has very handy times to I've you an idea of how long it will take to prepare and then cook which is great when your in a bit of a hurry and looking for something quicker. All in all a great cookery book and I will be keeping an eye out for other books by Vanessa.

"Simple and straightforward Homecooking."

I am not normally a lover of cookbooks and tend to be quite lazy when it comes to actually reading a recipie and getting all of the ingrediants together. However, this cookbook is such an easy read and has so many original and straighforward recipies it would be a crime not to buy this and try out some marvellous home cooked foods. I also love the fact that she has her own twist on certain receipies and makes them very unique. The only problem I have is deciding which recipie to try first. Will it be the Chocolate and Raspberry cake, the Tomato and Oregano Pizza Bread and Easy Pasta Bake or the Victoria Sponge cake? I know what I will be doing when my maternity leave begins!
I also love the fact that everything that goes into the food that you make is 100% natural and being quite healthy I am very excited to begin trying all of these new and exciting recipies out.

"A nice change to the typical recipe book!"

I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through this recipe book and have already got a selection of recipes that I am looking forward to trying out. It's a nice change to the typical kind of recipe book that you can find on the shelves today. The layout I found very easy to follow and the various pictures that separate pages makes it very easy on the eye. I especially like how all the different syrups link into the recipes throughout the book, it's very cleverly done. I don't usually follow recipe books as they are usually too advanced for my cooking skills, however, there are many recipes in this book that individuals like myself will find easy to follow. My favourite recipe in this book is definitely "My Grandmother's Christmas Cake," it is a lovely way to finish the book as the best recipes I know have been the ones to follow down in the family.

Overall, I am very impressed with this book - great value for money and would happily recommend it to others!
