"A lovely keepsake."
Itsyourstory specialise in personalised books with a 'magical twist'. Each book makes the child the star, not only including their name in the story but for the first time incorporating their face into the illustrations.
I was asked to review these books and chose the book to celebrate your child's first birthday - Now 'child's name' is one.
The ordering process was very easy. I had to email a few details - date of birth, name of a friend, whether my son could walk or crawl, a message to be printed at the front of the book, delivery address and a jpeg image of my son. It took about a fortnight from sending my details to receiving the book.
I have to admit I was expecting the book to be a hardback book as I had come across personalised books that were hardbacks. However my initial disappointment soon vanished when I opened the book. This book was not like these old personalised books - with just your child's name - there was my son looking out from every page. The illustrations are very bold and the photograph is incorporated very well. The story is very simple but appealing to young children. It is a nice touch to have the friend's name but might have been nicer to include a photograph of them as well - in the illustration you just see a pair of legs!
Although Mummy, Daddy and big sisters were very excited at seeing our son/brother in print he didn't seem that impressed. I think older children are more likely to appreciate the fact that it is them in the book. Having said that it is a lovely keepsake of our son's first birthday.
I would definitely recommend this book as a special present/keepsake but have to say that at £19.99 plus postage and packing I think it is a little expensive.
