"Great colourful rhyming book"

Bright & colourful rhyming book. Introducing rhyming in a fun and almost made up way that would interest children. Large colourful pictures which tell the story without needing any words. Hidden message in story of eating in moderation.
My two older children 3 & 4 very much enjoyed the rhyming and my son especially loved Mrs MacCready 'eating cherries with worms!!!' Unfortunately neither really enjoyed the ending when Mrs MacCready popped after eating too much.

"Very bright humourous story"

My children all like this book and particuarly the rhyming and illustrations.
The 3 and 4 year olds seemed to enjoy it more than the 6 and 7 year olds but then I think it's probably geared towards older toddlers.
The younger ones laughed a lot during reading - even though read to them several times and the older ones seemed a bit bored after the first couple of reads. The 7 year old didn't like the ending and thought that there should be an extra page to explain why the lady went bang.
Easy to read but had a few little stumbles on words such as accompanied and succulent as the younger ones stopped me to ask what they meant.

"Colourful picture book."

This book has bright colourful pictures that fill the whole page. To be honest though neither of my girls were very keen. My eldest daughter (age 4) didn't like the part where Mrs Macready bites off the gingerbread mans head as the picture has him looking anxious whilst heading into and enormous mouth. The storyline gets more fantastic as it goes along and some of the rhymes seem to have been incorporated just to make the rhyme rather than for the 'plot'. She didn't get the story and she also didn't like Mrs Macready blowing up at the end.
My 2 year old listened but didn't comment and hasn't asked for the story again altough I have read it a couple of times. Her favorite at the moment is Wibbly Pig and Harry (of the dinosaur fame).
Not a favorite here, but has good points possibly for less sensitive readers.

"A bright and fun rhyming story"

I've read this book to my little girl (4yrs) and my little boy (3yrs) several times over the last 2 weeks and they love it especially when she eats worms!
It's got some very vivid colourful pictures and my children like to try and retell the story to themselves!
They love rhyming storys and this is great as it rhymes all the way through! The only downside is the ending, mrs McCready ends up eating so much she pops and this really worries my 4yr old so every time we read it we have to talk about how it's just a story!
All in all a fun colourful book. If your childen are fans of books like some dogs do, cool in the pool and the gruffolo they should enjoy this.

"a nice book for little ones "

This was a nice book, the story rhymed all way through and the pictures were bright and colourful and my boys listened all way through, mrs maccready was very greedy and didnt stop eating, it helped my little ones understand eatin too much rubbish food is not good for you as my 5 year old has a very sweet tooth, my little 2 year old found it fun all way through but my 5 year old was a little worried she popped at the end from all the food, i explained it was just a story an people dont pop really but its not very good for you to eat so much. in all they enjoyed it but my 2 year old more then my 5 year old.
