"not what i expected"
when this arrived i put off using it as my son has quite bad exzema however when i did use it i noticed it was very dry and chalk like altho had a nice smell and thick texture, however it was awful for his wee skin and dried it out and made his red within the space of a day, it was threw in my bag (where it then burst causing an awful mess)
i definatly wouldn't buy this and feel i shoud have trusted my initial instincts and not tried this, however it may be better for a child with less sensitive skin than mine as we have even had issues with this exzema cream making him worse, however over all i'm not imp0ressed

"Effective at treating nappy rash"
I have used quite a lot of nappy rash creams in the past and so far Metanium ointment has been one of the best ones I have used.
The regular 30g tube that I got to test is great value for money - £2.99 at Boots and the majority of pharmacies.
I started using this when my son had quite a mild case of nappy rash and this completley cleared it within one day. The directions state to apply a thin layer onto the sore area and allow the skin texture to be seen through it. This is to be repeated with every nappy change. I followed these and It worked wonders.
He tends to get a sore bottom when he is teething and this often takes quite a while to clear. When Ive used the Metanium it has cleared within 2-3 days.
Although the tube is only small (30g) it lasts ages because you only need a small amount each nappy change.
The only downside I have to say about Metanium nappy rash ointment is that although its waterproof which is good for when there wearing their nappy its not good when trying to wash it off.

"Give it a try"
First thing I noticed unfortunately was the smell which is not the most pleasant.
Secondly was that manufacturers should really think about storing it in a small tub/container because the cream just flows out of the tube if you are not very careful. Especially as only a small amount is required this can be very wasteful and messy.
However the main test was how it coped with the rash/blisters & bleeding (yes it was that bad) and it worked!! After a just a couple of applications the bleeding had stopped and the blisters started to heal & within a few days the bottom was near enough clear and only slightly red.
BUT, don’t throw away the other creams just yet as unfortunately, Methanium just didn’t seem to clear it as effectively as it had the first time.
I would still recommend this cream as on the 1st use it worked miracles but like all baby products I would suggest having a varied range of products to use because as I have found out nappy rash is a very resilient little problem that seems to like different products depending on what mood it is in.
I would say this product offers good value for money. The only negative is that is does seem to get everywhere, and if it gets onto any items of clothing tends to stain.

"GIve it a try "
The cream arrived at the perfect time as one of my son’s was having the worst nappy rash I could imagine & had run out of ideas as to what to try next.
First thing I noticed unfortunately was the smell which is not the most pleasant but as it wasn’t being applied anywhere visible it wasn’t a huge issue.
BUT, don’t throw away the other creams just yet as unfortunately more teeth came through and although the teething rash was no where near as bad, Methanium just didn’t seem to clear it as effectively as it had the first time.
I would still recommend this cream as on the 1st use it worked miracles but like all baby products I would suggest having a varied range of products to use because as I have found out nappy rash is a very resilient little problem that seems to like different products depending on what mood it is in.

"Brilliant stuff"
In my opinion the best ointment there is to treat nappy rash, so much better than some of the other products you can buy. It clears it up with only 1 or 2 applications.
Only negative point is that a lot comes out with only a small squeeze & then ends up making a mess in the lid.

"Has it's place alongside the others"
I have been using metanium now on my daughters bottoms for a while. I was told about it with my eldest daughter and used it on her bottom. At first I felt that it worked miracles but quickly came to realise that sometimes it made a difference and other times it didn't. I most definitely feel that it has it's place as a nappy rash cream but used in conjunction with other creams. I found adding it to vaseline meant that not only was it medicinal, the vaseline acted as a barrier to protect the bottom. I still rely on good old sudocrem and carry both creams in my nappy bag. Recently my youngest daughter was given extremely strong antibiotics and had a very sore (to the state of bleeding) bottom and metanium made no difference at all. Yet other times when she is teething it works wonders. I find its inconsistency very strange and sometimes frustrating. I too agree that its packaging could be better as you do waste a lot when you first open it. I don't mind the smell as it's on her bottom it's not like I am washing her in it. The same principle for me applies to the colour as when applying any cream I wash my hands straight afterwards.

"magic cream"
as soon as any redness or soreness is seen on either of my children out comes the metanium you only need such a little bit and it works wonders. by morning most of the redness and soreness is gone. the only bad part about the cream is that if you get any on items of clothing it stains. one tube of cream last ages so it is really good value for money. It goes on like a cream but kind of turns into a powder so it really sticks to the skin instead of sliding off once the skin gets warm.

This cream works wonders! We had tried a few creams before getting this now we wouldn't use anything else, there's no need this works every time. A little go a long way too, you only need a small amount. Although the tube is more expensive because you don't need a lot it lasts for ages. I would highly recommend this cream.

"A 'must have'"
This cream is the best on the market for treating nappy rash. My daughter's bottom really flared up to the point of bleeding and within 2 days of using this cream you would have never known. It's not a cream I would use every day but as soon as there is any redness then I use it. The smell is interesting but not horrible. The only downside to this cream is when you are first using it a lot will come out of the tube at once. This stops the more you use.

"Dream cream "
The best nappy cream ever invented . Works straight away taking away the soreness on a nappy rash . My daughter had a bad rash due to having gastric flu and it cleared it up within 2 days . Amazing . Although down side is it would be better in a pot rather than a tube as it carries on coming out and if u get it on clothes it does stain

"Yellow and medicinal"
I must be the only person writing a review for this product to really not like it.
Firstly, I would prefer a small tub as opposed to the tube as my daughter got hold of it and it could have scratched her face. I didn't like the smell which I thought was slightly medicinal but what put me off most was the colour. It stained the nappy which means it would probably stain your clothes if you got it on them.
Also, as soon as you take off the lid the cream starts to come out so I found over time there was quite alot of it wasted.
Lastly, I honestly found that Sudacream worked better on my little girl. This product happened to turn up to coincide with a bought of teething and I didn't find it effective at all.
To be honest, this will be banished to the bottom of a drawer for emergencies only and I'll stick with the cheaper, and in my opinion more effective product - Sudacream.

"Long lasting and does the job!"
My little girl rarely gets nappy rash but can get a little red in that area when teething. The first thing I noticed was then when you take the lid off alot of cream starts to come out without you squeezing the tube. Therefore to avoid waste, I had to put the lid back on quite quickly. I put a thin layer on each time and it was more than enough. This tube will last for ages and is definately value for money even though at first I thought that it was quite pricey compared to similar products on the market. A little definately goes a long way. The smell is slightly medicinal but I like it. One application saw that the next time I changed her nappy there was definately no more redness. Also, although it looked quite thick when applied it seemed to absorb into the skin as it wasnt there when I looked again and it wasnt all over the nappy. I would definately recommend this product as one application seems to be all that is needed, its easy to use and offers value for money.

"A definite must-buy"
I have been using this ointment as a preventative to nappy rash from the very beginning, and have to say I don't know what I would do without it. My son has very rarely had any redness or signs of nappy rash(and then only when teething), and the cream seems to have prevented the initial signs from getting any worse.
I would say this product offers good value for money. The only negative is that is does seem to get everywhere, and if it gets onto any items of clothing tends to stain.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the product and would recommend to other mums.

I was recommended this by a friend and I have to say it is really good. The results were seen the next time the nappy was removed. I've tried other creams but this was by far the best.

"loved it"
I have always used sudocrem on the girls but I have absolutely loved this product. It had quick results all though both mine only suffer from nappy rash when teething and compared to most have it mild!!!.
The colour is a bit odd it is an off yellow and has a bit of an odd smell ( someone else described it as like a dentist surgery!) but not overpowering.
You only use a very small amount and so the tube will last forever but if i ever run out I will but this one.

"Would Definately Buy Again"
I have used Lots of different nappy rash creams and I can honestly say this is the best so far! My 10 month old daughter has has 2 bad cases of nappy rash recently and this has cleared it up so quickly. It's not greasy and goes on with a slight yellow colour so you can see where you've put it. I would advise people to use it sparingly as a little goes a VERY long way, with that in mind I can't see I'll be buying any alternative creams anytime soon!
All in all a very good nappy rash cream & I would definately buy it again (that's if I ever actually use up the whole tube!)

"Excellent Results"
As a mother of three children under two who are teething and getting nappy rash often, I have been looking for a cream to work quickly and effectively. Metanium is amazing, I bathed all three kids last night put the cream on and the next morning the rash had gone. The cream has got a clinical smell which didn't bother me, I was just happy to have found a cream that worked. The tube advises you to only use a pea size amount and to dab it, and I can tell you that a little goes a long way. I will definitely purchase this cream when this tube finishes and have not hesitation in recommending it.

"very impressed"
I have to say this is a great product. I have always used sudocrem on the boys but I've been absolutely amazed at this product. It works quickly and well.
The colour is offputting and is an off yellow and is quite grainy (like there is a small amount of sand in it!). It has a bit of an odd smell (best described as like a dentist surgery!) but not overpowering.
You only use a very small amount and so the tube will last ages.
I will be purchasing another tube as soon as this one is finishing.
Thank you for introducing this product to me.

"Miracle Cream"
Used this after a recommendation from a family friend, apparently they used this in hospital with the elderly!!
My older son had been quite run down and as a result was suffering with bad nappy rash, I had spent a fortune on various nappy rash creams which did not work. When i first used this I wasn't expecting much, but the morning after I had applied the nappy rash had more or less cleared up, by the end of the following day the soreness had gone!!
I also recently found that this is available on perscription, I just got another tube for my younger boy, although the tube seems to last forever any way!!!!!
Did not realise that they do cradle cap cream though will have to try that one too!!!

"Lasts forever and really works"
At first this seems a bit dear, but as i was recommended it by my midwife I gave it a go. That was 9 months ago and I've hardly made a dent in the tube.
It really works. My son's nappy rash (caused by teething) wouldn't shift and this stuff blasted it away in 24 hours! Fantastic!
There's a lot of coverage from a tiny amount. So it was well worth the initial expense.

"A Nappy Rash Ointment that really works."
Metanium Ointment For Nappy Rash.
This is know in our house a magic cream on the rare occasions that our little man suffers from nappy rash we have put this cram on at the last nappy change before bed and by morning it's gone. You only need the smallest ammount as this cream goes a long way, a tube lasts us ages. The smell might not be to everyones taste but I think it has a lovely anticeptic smell.
Would recommend this product and after reading the other reviews will give the moisturiser a go.

"it works!"
this really is a great cream, my daughter had cradle cap for ages and i had tried every product cream, etc when my health visitor recommended me this so i went out to the shop and brought it the sme day and within a week it hardly noticed, it really is a great cream, it didnt smell half as bad as the others i had tried either. It has quite a pleasent smell and it wasnt too costly, no more than the others anyway. It feels a bit sticky to touch but once you have rubbed it in its not so bad and it works so that the main thing.
I would recommend this product to any mum with a baby that has cradle cap as it does get rid of it, it doesnt disappear straight away but it doesnt take too long. Overall i would highly recommend this as it is easy to follow the instructions and comes in a good size tube so perfect for getting rid of the cradle cap. I have not tried the moisturiser but the cream is great so i imagine the moisturiser would be too!

"Cradle Cap Cream That Works!!"
Metanium Cradle Cap Cream
My 6 months old little boy Alex had had cradle cap for about a month and it was getting really sore for him and looking very flakey. I had tried all sorts of things to try and sort it out. A friend told me to rub a little bit of vegetable oil in his head before he went to bed and I even tried that!! I used moisturiser instead of shampoo and tried a baby hair conditioner too. But it wasn't until I tried some Metanium Cradle Cap Cream that I started to notice a difference. I noticed a difference from the 2nd day but by the end of the week, Alex's cradle cap had gone. One really good thing is that it doesn't sting babies eyes. We all know how much they can end up crying if something gets in their eyes! I carried on using it till the tube was finished to make sure it didn't come back and I don't know whether it's a coincidence or not but his cradle-cap doesn't seem to have come back! The only negative thing I can say is that the cream is a bit tacky to the touch but who cares - it sorted out Alex's problem and it smells ok too.
I also tested the Metanium Baby Moisturising Cream and I have been totally won over by it. Alex has always got dry skin on his legs and I've been using it on him. Eva's been having it rubbed into the dry skin behind her knees and i keep it in my handbag all the time, to use as hand-cream. It soaks in really quickly, leaving your skin (and baby's) really soft but not at all sticky. It's really brilliant. I love it.
