"Stylish, well made baby gate"

We have put this gate on our daughters bedroom as she will be soon going into a junior bed.

It is a really nice looking safety gate. Very sturdy, in a sleek 'brushed' aluminium finish. It looks lovely up but a bit out of place compared to our standard, cheap, white gate.

My husband fitted it and informed me that he thought it was well made and easy to fit. In his opinion definately a 'quality item'. Worth the money if you want something to last a few years.

It is actually screwed to the frame, rather than 'pressure fitted' so I feel at ease with my daughter grabbing hold of this, shaking it and leaning her whole body weight onto it in order to try and escape. It seems very safe.

The locking mechanism, is too difficult for her to operate but easy enough for adult hands. You have to push a button on the top of the gate with your thumb and pull a latch up with the rest of your fingers at the same time to release the lock. If she did have the strength and determination to do this, her hand would be too small to reach both parts anyway. She is 15 months old. At some point she will learn but it's impossible to say when. It is , however, managable by my 5 year old.

There is no bar at the bottom to trip over so very practical if you're a bit clumsy (like me). The gate swings open both ways (in and out). You do, however, have to line up the gate fairly accurately to ensure it is closed properly.

The RRP is the only part that would put me off. I think purchased, as an investment, if your plan is to have more children and you want something decent looking stuck in your house for the next 5 years then it's worth it (hence 4 stars). If you want practicality over style then go for something cheaper. (I suppose it isn't REALLY necessary to have a 'stylish safety gate').

"Loved it!"

Have always had the standard white safety gates previously - and the design of this one is so much better! Looks really good and ties in with decor of my home. I found it (well my partner did!) easy to fit and is easy to open/close once you have the hang of it. My 3 year old (who had mastered the opening of other safety gates) is unable to open this one.. I think it is a reasonable price considering the look of the gate and its ease of use.

"Gorgeous but difficult to fit"

This is a really stylish and smart-looking gate, all sleek aluminium and much nicer than the regular white ones. It is more expensive, though, but worth it because it's going to be around for some time and looks nicely like a choice rather than a necessary safety feature.
However, it's not perfect. It clicks shut when swung without needing to press the closure, whch is really convenient, but it feels really easy to open without much pressure, which may not be too good if your kids are into watching and copying how you do things!
The main problem, though, was with fitting the gate. Firstly, the spacers that you may need for it to fit the gap you have were missing. To their credit, Lindam replied to my e-mail the next day and they arrived quickly, which is excellent service.
Secondly, to gauge the height of the bracket on the other side to the hinge, you're meant to slide the bracket onto the wall fixing, measure the height then remove the bracket from the fixing and replace it after drilling holes and fitting the fixing. BUT the fixture is a friction fixing that would require a hammer to remove it, breaking the bracket in the process. So DON'T FOLLOW THE MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS or expect to be able to move the gate to another position after fitting it.
Finally, it may be that the place it's fitted isn't level but I'm finding the loud cracking noise that comes from the hinge every time I open the gate more than a little worrying.

"great product but would not buy one!"

Although I think the gate itself is a good looking product I think for the price you can buy just as good cheaper. Because of the design I could not get it to fit in any of my doorways or against any of my walls. After much debate and lots of measuring I have had to put the hinged end at right angles on my banister and have it across the hall. Now that the gate is up the locking mechanism is so easy to use.
