"Learning is fun!" My little boy loves this and laughs a lot when playing with it. As a teaching assistant I know how important it is that learning is fun and Leapfrog have definitely suceeded in that! As others have said the tune can get a little annoying for mums but when it's accompanied by your LO's laughter you soon forget your annoyance. I like the way it gives you the different ways the letter can be sounded as in i for ice and i for igloo. My own niggle would be the way the letters are formed - no loops for joining up can be forgiven but the t has no loop which could possibly mean children could form the letter incorrectly when they begin writing BUT this really is a minor niggle overall this is a fantastic product for teaching phonics. "great value and helpful" This is a fantastic product. My daughter has just started school and
in order for them to learn to read they use phonics so this is an ideal product for her to use.
I have noticed a vast improvement to her stringing letters together and make words which is great.
Recommend highly.

"my baby boy can sing the AF-BET!!!!" we first saw this product when Nathan was only 11 months old at my sister's place in NY and he would pull himself up to the refrigerator and move the magnets about. when the alphabet song played (someone had to press the button for him), he would give this huge, cheesy grin and try to dance. i cursed myself for not finding one to bring back to the UK with me!
now, he's totally in control and he LOVES his Fridge Phonics to bits! he knows how to put the letters in the right way so that he gets the song so that he can dance..and when he gets impatient, he simply presses the alphabet song button and then has a happy boogie!
so far, he seems to have a distinct liking for the letter 'o' - maybe because it's so similar to one of his favourite words at the moment, perhaps? (no) :-)
he very often wanders through the house with the player next to his ear like a personal boom box...and stops mid-walk and does a jig...
all Nathan's little buddies totally love this toy and he's quite happy to share (as long as he gets to press the alphabet song button) and he's converted our kitchen into a mini disco!
love it, love it, love it!!! Member review by Lorraine - mummy to Nathan, 21 months old

"Very educational and brilliant!" I totally love this! my boy totally loves it too :)
as another poster has mentioned, it gives u the different soundings from each letter, after 2 goes of the 'g' my son tried 'jhi', I was well chuffed :)
We took this and some of the letters on a long driving trip recently and it was a great toy to take with us. Yes the song does annoy after a while, but if u can block it out, then its well worth it as my son now tries to join in when he press' for the alphabet song, he joins in with d e g i k and mumbles when it goes lmnop.... he hasnt got the full letter yet but I can see a real improvement.
Oh did I mention my son is only 17 months old? as he is still young for this, he does sometimes struggle putting the letters in, but its helping him withhis hand/eye co-ordination and problem solving skills :)
All in all, a brilliant product, well worth the money...
(i am going to buy one of those magnetic white boards as im trying to keep him out of the kitchen, especially when im cooking, plus then he can take it to grans house too)

"Fab" Jaidyn loves this. She's forever putting letters in and listening to the sounds they make. Ok from a mum's point of view it does get rather annoying when she puts the same two letters in over and over and over again!!!!
It tells you what sound each letter makes and is a letter can be pronounced in different ways it tells you eg G says g or G says j, which is fab as it helps explain why Giraffe is pronounced Jiraffe! I love the fact that it's lower case letters too as that's the letters they learn first at school. The songs get a bit annoying when you hear them over and over again, but I guess that's an adult's point of view with most kids electronic toys!! As long as the kids are happy and all that!
It sticks to the fridge, so it's always at hand although Jaidyn does have a tendancy to knock the letters off and lose them, then we have to hunt for them! I'm sure she's convinced herself that's how you play with it as it happens every time she goes near it!!
Over all it's a fantastic educational toy. Well worth the money and I think it looks fab on my freezer door!! Member review by Yvonne - mum of 5
