"Lovely atmosphere" Although we had both used Jones the Bootmaker for our own purchases we were surprised when told that the shop sold children's shoes. More than this they were extremely child-friendly. In fact it was nice to find, as we walked though the empty main section of the store at 9.30, that the child's fitting area was a hive of activity, supplemented by an appropriate buzz. Further agreeable surprises awaited us as we scanned the shelves and found a marvelous choice of brands: Lelli Kelly, Ecco, Startrite, Timberland, Doodles as well as your obvious selection of Clarks and Jones' own. Having so much choice under one roof meant that we could browse a good variety without having to trudge around endless shops with a toddler who only wanted to go to the park.
It started well with Tom crying the moment he was approached but the caring helper, Hayley, took her time, allowing him to play with the measurer whilst keeping a safe distance until he was ready. In fact we were in the shop for over half an hour and although there were a few more crying kids it was clear that the calm and relaxed staff were well trained in how to deal with fractious behaviour. This must be helped by the fact that parents can book a slot for their kids, so can turn up to the store knowing they will be dealt with quickly. Certainly within five minutes, and one sticker later, Tom was having his feet measured and even allowed Hayley to change his huge array of shoes.
The prices were pretty standard, fair prices for good quality shoes and obviously the range of brands on offer meant that there was a decent choice from 13 pounds upwards.
All in all a pleasant, safe and friendly environment peopled with unperturbed yet knowledgeable helpers. Shopping for toddlers is rarely enjoyable I find and yet Jones has done considerably more than most to ensure that the task is, if not fun, then at least as painfree as possible. What more can you ask!

"Great Service and Lovely Shoes" Well, we went along to Jones the Bootmaker in Lemington Spa on a Saturday, a lovely sunny day and the shop was bright and newly done out. We met the store manager there who was very friendly and good with my 4-yr old daughter, which is nice to see as some shoe-shop people I have found in the past can be very indifferent to the child and at the end of the day its their feet we're there for!
We generally struggle with Ashleigh's feet as they are so wide, we always have to go for properly fitted shoes so it always costs us a fortune. Clarks and Startrite are the 2 manufacturers I know of who actually sell length and width fitted shoes. Jones the Bootmakers seem to stock Startrite. Unfortunately for Ashleigh, we only had a choice of 3 styles of shoe due to her unusual size, the manager hunted high and low in the store room to find something more exciting than black or navy but we are used to this as I said.
We eventually settled for some navy blue summer shoes with white soles and a buckle which are a perfect fit. They have a flower design on the front and although they didn't have flashing lights as Ashleigh would have liked, the manager was really encouraging about how great they looked. He even said that if we got them home and she changed her mind and wouldn't wear them, as long as they had only been tried on carpet, he would exchange them for us.
So, all in all I was really impressed with the friendly service we received. Luckily once we got home, Ashleigh has decided she loves her new shoes - its all I can do now to get her to take them off at bedtime! I would definitely recommend this shop to others in the future. We do live a little way away from Leamington but have relatives there and I will definitely make a detour when we're visiting next time my little one needs new shoes. Its worth the few extra miles to get good service. Member review by Emily - Mum
