"Hoburne Holiday Park Torbay - Wow"

I've just come back from a really fab short break in The Hoburne Holiday Park in Torbay.

It didn't start off too brilliantly as it was really hard to find and not well sign-posted at all. We drove round for ages but got there in the end.

When we arrived, we were greeted by really friendly staff who were all

very smartly dressed. A woman showed us where our caravan was on a map which was really bright and easy to follow so that was a great help too. There was plenty of parking around caravans so it wasn't too far to walk for little legs.

My first look at the caravan was like 'Wow'.

Brand new decking all round the outside with a gate and even a lock to stop little ones getting out! I thought that was a really great idea. There was a lovely wooden picnic table too and during our holiday the boys loved having their food out there.
When I opened the caravan door, the smell of cleaning products really hit me. I must say it has to be one of cleanest caravans I've ever been in (and we've been in a few lol). It was like a house inside. The boys thought it was amazing. There was a TV, a DVD player and loads of other extras. We had a premier-plus caravan with 3 bedrooms - 2 twins and one double! The double bedroom had a walk-in wardrobe and even an en-suite.

There was heating in every room which is perfect for when the temperature drops at night which it often does in Britain.

The camp itself was also really clean and lovely looking. There was always someone around cleaning or doing the gardens. One thing that did bug me a little was that the shop only opened 9-11am and 4-6pm which to me was a little silly. Also there was no ATM on the site! Maybe the camp should look into getting one of them because I had to walk down to the bottom of the hill with 3 little boys who were not happy about leaving the camp at all.

The outside pool looked great. Unfortunately, we didnt use it as the boys are very fair and I couldn't risk them burning.
The outside playground where the boys played was perfect for all ages. Kian used the smaller one which had 2 swings, a slide and rockers. It was all fenced off with gates so the children can't get out. The older park was fab and even I had a go on the big tunnel slides. It had ropes and allsorts to keep the kids happy for hours.

The boys loved the indoor swimming pool. It had really great slides and was very clean and tidy. All the staff had time to speak to the boys which was nice. The water was lovely and warm - perfect for little ones.

The entertainment on camp in the day was a little poor and we would have liked a little more going on during the day.

We did have an Alphabet hunt which the boys came 2nd in and I was very proud. But basically there was not much else going on on the day. We did go though during term-time so perhaps during the school holidays, it's very different.

The 'fun-stars' worked so hard in the night and I thought that the entertainment in the night was a lot better. Although it got on my nerves a bit that the kids had to go out when the bingo was on as I was on my own. The kids' entertainment in the night was great and the boys loved dancing with the fun-stars and I did love the way they got the parents to join in and we all had had loads of fun jumping around with kids. Kids under 8 who wanted to join in with the fun-stars had to have an adult with them so that was hard work as I couldn't take a break! Louis actually won a children's cocktail for dancing love him. And on one good night I did win £95 on the bingo.
The bar prices were not bad at all either. An Archers and lemonade and a bottle of pepsi was £3.50 which I thought was ok for a camp.

The kids really did love Sammy the Sea Horse - The Hoburne camp character. He read them a story, they had photos taken with him, danced with him and sang his good night song. I think all children would love him as he is kind of cute.

The shows in the night were good too. If you wanted to stay out, the kids were welcome all night. We saw a comedian and a soul singer and both were top stuff - a credit to the camp.

The food in the restaurant was a little pricey but it was lovely and important

when you're with little ones, it was cooked in about 20 minutes. The kids' menu was fab and the prices were great. A pizza only cost £2.00 and a meal-deal with something like fish-fingers, chips, salad and a drink was only £3.25. They had plenty of high chairs which were very clean and we liked the fact that the indoor play area was just next to where you eat so while the kids were waiting for their food, they could run about and not be bored or play up.

The park, by the way, also looks out over the sea and over some really lovely sights and there's crazy golf and a football pitch. The beach is a 10 min walk from the camp and there's also a steam train that runs along the bottom of the camp. The boys loved watching it go past.

All in all we had a really good time. If you want somewhere safe and not too lively, The Hoburne Holiday Park in Torbay would be a great place to go.
