"A Lovely Day Out! "

We were lucky enough to be sent tickets to go for a family day out at Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes. It was very easy to find, and when we set out the sun was shining. We took our 2 year old daughter with us.

We were worried initially that as it was the summer holidays we'd be queuing for quite a while, but this wasn't the case. I'd say we only waited about 2-3 mins before we could enter the park.

As we entered we were greeted by Dora the Explorer and Diego, my daughter is a big fan, so she was very pleased!

We first visited an indoor play area for the younger children, which had little ride ons and a massive ball pit, which is ideal for children of my daughter's age. There were a few more of these areas dotted around the park, my daughter's favourite one was in the enchanted woods.

I would say that this theme park is ideal for the under 5s as most of the rides are fairly slow moving. Although practically all of the rides have a minimum height of 90cm, my daughter, Kymberleigh is fairly tall for her age, as she is just shy of 100cm. We didn't have to wait long at all for any rides which is great as my little madam can get quite irritable.

Her favourite ride, which surprised us actually, was the log flume. I think she enjoyed her and Daddy getting soaked! I was unable to go on the log flume as I am pregnant.

We were given a map of challenges to complete that were all related to Dora the Explorer, there were stations all around the park where you could stamp off each challenge and at the end Kymberleigh got a prize for doing it. I thought this was a nice little touch as it got the children involved with the rides and attractions.

The food hall is located inside the castle. There was plenty to chose from, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, jacket potatoes etc... however when we visit again I think we'd like to take a packed lunch as there were so many nice picnic areas about.

There were plenty of toilets in the park and the ones we went in were very clean. The baby changing facilities were also immaculate and there was a separate room in which you can breastfeed your baby, the room looked very comfortable.

As per usual, we had about 4 hours of sunshine and then it bucketed down with rain! We decided to make a move as my Kymberleigh was getting wet and tired!

The one downside of Gullivers is that most of the rides and attractions were accessed by ramps, many of which were wooden and very slippery when the rain came...they did have warning signs for this though.

I would definately recommend Gulliver's Land to families with young children as there is lots to do and its all aimed at the younger age group. The staff were very friendly, there were loads of rides which Kymberleigh could go on practically all of. If it hadn't have rained we would have stayed much longer!

I would definately pay £12.50 each to go again!

I never realised that there was such a great place so near to me! Thank you thebabywebsite for giving us the opportunity to visit it! x

"Fantastic family day out"

We were lucky enough to be sent tickets to go for a family day out at Gulliver’s at Matlock Bath it wasn’t the best day weather wise but over 50% of the attractions are undercover so we decided to risk it.

We set off on our journey, Thomas(12), Harry(10), Ellen(3) and my nephew Dominic(13), I decided we should go before all the schools broke up for the summer holidays as we figured it wouldn’t be too busy and because Harry is autistic he doesn’t really like to wait in queues.

The park is split into little sections, Western world, Fantasy Terrace, Party House, Lilliput Land, Palais Royale , Bourbon Street and Dinosaur Kingdom which is new for 2009.

Thomas and Dominic liked the Palais Royale and Bourbon street the best because they had the bigger rides ‘The switchback’, Pirate ship and the ‘Cycle Monorail’ which they loved but I hated and was laughing hysterically half way round because I was shattered from peddling on my own while Ellen sat and enjoyed the view so if your not very fit(like myself) going on with someone who can’t reach their pedals is definitely a bad idea.

Most of the rides are perfect for children from the age of 3 because they are of the slower gentle variety, carousels, ladybird ride, balloons ferris wheel, lazy river ride and there are plenty of play areas around the park with climbing frames, slides and ball pools etc.

There is plenty of choice from the park with everything from home cooked meals, pizza’s, sandwiches, jacket spuds, fish and chips and burgers. Not to mention all the little kiosks dotted around the park selling pop, ice creams, doughnuts and waffles.

There are also picnic tables with parasols around that you could eat your own food.

We opted for the family banquet from Canyon Grill which for £14.95 we got to have 2 Qtr pounder burgers or chicken burgers, 3 Fries, 4 Drinks, a dipper barrel which is a pot of carrot and cucumber sticks with a pot of mayonnaise, 2 yoghurts and 2 toys.

There are plenty of toilets all around the park and we found them all clean and with toilet roll ,the baby changing room we went in at bourbon street was very clean and also had a chair and table in, it would be ideal for breastfeeding mom’s wanting somewhere quiet to go to feed.

The park is very hilly and if going again I’d start at the top and work my way down because Ellen was getting tired at the end of our day and having to make her walk up steep hills was hard for her little legs and mine.

I’d highly recommend Gulliver’s Kingdom to families with young children, there is so much to do here and the facilities are brilliant, everywhere was really clean, the staff are really friendly, the kids all had a brilliant day out despite the rain .

It is such good value for money at £11.50 each and we’ll definitely be going again.

"Really enjoyable family day out."

We were very lucky to have one of the only days of the year with lovely weather! –half of the rides or things to do are under cover should the weather be as expected!
I was pleasantly surprised when entering the park as you get a nice view of part of the boating lake and some of the smaller rides to ease the children into their day out. The rides started out quite gentle but there is quite a mix for all ages to enjoy.
As well as my daughter Katie (aged 7) and my Son (aged 6) we also took a friend, Ellie (aged 7) as she had been before and was desperate to come with us! She also gave us favourable reviews of all of the rides on the way there!
When we arrived it seemed quite quiet but the park managed to fill up throughout the day – luckily apart from one or two of the very large rides the other queues were very quick and painless to wait in. They have a height system to tell you what height you need to be to get on a ride so you can quickly spot the ones you can head for and many of them the height limit is ignored for little ones when accompanied by an adult!

Katie favourite ride was the pedal go-karts whilst my son liked the toboggan ride (the children sit in a rubber ring and slide down a carpeted surface)
There are lots of indoor play areas with ball pits and climbing frames for the children – each area has space if you want to sit down or have a bite to eat while the kids work some energy off. There is even a small gymnasium for the kids to enjoy!

There are plenty of toilets and changing facilities everywhere as well.
There is a ride that lifts the children up and down randomly that the kids adored. Because the queue was short the kids went on it four times in a row and would have stayed on it if I had not dragged them away!

The food was fairly reasonably priced with kids meals (nuggets and chips, etc) to adult meals ranging in price typically from £3.50 to £4.50.
The park is so large we managed to get lost for a short spell at the end of the day!
There were nice seating areas with impressive views over the main boating lake.

The park opens @ 10 and closes typically at 5.30 so I advise leaving a little earlier to avoid the main traffic!

I was very impressed with the size and variety of rides available in the park. For a ticket price of £12.50 I think this represents really good value for money. The children had a lovely day out and my son especially was in tears when I finally dragged them out! For parents wondering what to do with the children on their summer holiday I can happily recommend Gulliver’s World to all.
