"FAB"

I have tried the Tom & Jerry cake mix. It is just fab, the instructions are easy to follow, the kids had a ball making them, icing them & definately eating them!!

Josh's favourite bit was mixing the cake mixture & the icing & Jen loved putting the edible stickers on the top. ( Which was a bonus because they didn't fight over who was doing what job!!)

I would definatley recommend this cake mix to anyone who has kids & I have bought them since & will buy them again in the future.

(I took pictures but the camera decided it didn't want to upload to the computer - I will keep trying so you can see how good they are & what a ball the kids had)

"Easy Peasy..."

We got a pack of the Thomas the Tank cakes to try. I have 3 boys but the eldest one (6 years old going on 16) said he was too old to make Thomas cakes, so my 2 year old & almost 4 year old had a go at making them.

Firstly, when I opened the pack I noticed there was an activity sheet & some stickers which was a nice touch, but not sure it's something I would want or expect in a pack of cake mix. The boys liked the stickers but weren't bothered about the activity sheet at all. Maybe it was their age, but I suspect older kids who would be more interested in an activity sheet would think that they were a bit old for Thomas too.

That aside, the boys set everything out on the worktop in front of them & got to work making the cake mixture. I was quite surprised to see that you needed to weigh out & add butter to the mixture, as you don't usually see this on kids cake mixes, but I thought it was a good idea as they'd have a better understanding of what went into cakes. I helped them to weigh out the butter & they put everything into the mixing bowl & took turns in mixing the ingredients together with a hand whisk. When the mixture was ready they helped to spoon it into the cases ready for baking. Whilst they waited for the cakes to bake they had a go at mixing the icing up, which they enjoyed.

After the cakes were cooked & cooled the boys really enjoyed decorating them. They got messy with the icing & loved adding the edible wafers & especially the sprinkles.

All in all I would say they are good for something quick & easy to entertain the kids on a rainy day :)

"Fun and easy to make"

The packaging of these cake mixes is very eye catching. When I've been shopping in the supermarket with Jamie, he has spotted these mixes and asked me to buy them. I don't usually buy these packet mixes as I like to home bake my cakes. I do think they are a great way to get children baking and I may buy the green's packet mixes occasionally now that we have tried this one.

Jamie, age 5, enjoyed making the Thomas cakes. He could do most of it himself and I've added some pictures to my baby blog of Jamie making these. I helped with the measurements of water, cracking the egg and measuring the butter. I helped to mix up the icing (so it didn't go too runny) and Jamie iced the cakes himself and added the fun Thomas waferette and the sugar sprinkles.Jamie was excited by the Thomas activity sheet and loved the stickers, so that all adds to the fun.

The cakes tasted nice, we all enjoyed eating them, although the best bit for the children is the icing, so that gets eaten first!

"Thomas and Friends"

I gave Charlie the Greens Thomas and Friends Cake kit and his eyes lit up. Charlie has special dietary requirements so he couldn't eat these himself, but his big sister and brother were happy to help him out!
Charlie (4yrs) pretty much made the cakes by himself, the instructions are very simple and you only needed an egg, some butter and some water to add.
Charlie told me the best bit was adding making the icing - because he was allowed to lick the spoon after! :)
We liked that there is a small activity sheet for the child to do while the cakes are in the oven, and stickers!! Always a hit in our house!

Big Sis and Bro said the cakes are tasty too - always a bonus!

"loved them "

We tried the Tom and Jerry design and we decided to let Michael be the cook for the day. On opening the box he was delighted to have a little puzzle book and some stickers inside which is a really good idea .

The instructions were on the back of the box in 4 simple stages all we needed to supply was 1 egg, some butter and water couldn't get any easier really. Michael done everything himself except the butter measurement thats how easy these cakes were. I placed them in the oven for 10 minutes and they smelt really yummy and michael really liked the cake mix .

After 10 minutes out they came but we had to wait for them to cool and sitting waiting looking at them was really the hardest part.

After they had cooled came the decorating which was easy once I had made the icing sugar, michael was off again and they were ready in no time at all with the great Tom and Jerry waferette decorations. I must say they really didnt last long at all in our house they tasted really really nice

thumbs up from us all here

"Too easy"

My 4 year old was quite excited about baking cakes with her 13 year old sister. So I let them loose in the kitchen with a box of Greens Barbie cupcakes!
Everything was easy, chuck in the cake mix, egg, water & butter and mix. Unfortunately my 4 year old was not impressed that we didn't have to mix sugar and butter first, then add the egg, then the flour....yep I'm afraid she is a traditional baker!!! She moaned it was boring making the cakes, but soon perked up when she was given the stickers and puzzle book to keep her amused while they were in the oven.
Once they were cooled the icing was made, easy enough to do and a fab idea to turn the packet into an icing bag. Unfortunately there wasn't enough icing to recreate the cake on the front of the box, we got 10 cakes with a swirl of icing like that, but the last two had the remains spread on top. My daughter loved the heart sprinkles, but again there wasn't enough to recreate the box image and we were pinching hearts from other cakes to give the last cake some.
Sadly none of the kids really liked the taste of the cakes, my 15 year old said they tasted of nothing! Maybe I go a bit overboard with the vanilla in my own cakes!!
Not something I would buy, but the idea of stickers and puzzle book in the box are a fab idea.

"even i can make these. yummy cakes"

loved how these cake are fool proof, even someone that cant bake couldnt go wrong with these.

My 4yr old son and i decided to have a go at these cakes. I have to explain....i cannot bake at all and everything i have tried so far has been a huge fail lol. However with the greens cake mixes for kids even we were able to achieve a fantastic result.

We used the Thomas the tank engine cup cake mix. The packaging is bright with colourful pictures of engines which my son loves. The ingredients were already measured out and in indivual packs, all you do is add 1 egg. 9 teas spoons of water and 6g of butter { which i guessed }. Inside the box there was also an activity sheet for my son to complete which was a god send for impatient kids who want the cakes out of the oven asap. There are also cake cases, and thomas decorations including little icing sugar trains for the top.

We mixed with an electric hand mixer and spooned into indiviual cake cases and baked in the oven at 160 degrees for a little over 10 mins/ or until they have risen and golden brown in colour.
Top Tip.............allow to cool well before adding icing and decoration. We tried to do a few before they were completely cooled and the icing seemed to run lol.

Taste test- These cakes are delicious, so light and fluffy inside with a well balanced { not too sweet } taste. My 4yr old really enjoyed the sugar trains and rice-paper toppings.

I would really recomend these cake mixes to anyone that really want a great rainy day activity to do with the kids. Your really cant go wrong, so easy and the kids will love it too.
Great value for money product which i will be definately be doing again and again.

"fun and tasty!"

I made these cakes with my elsest daughter who is 6. The instructions on the pack were very easy to follow and there was no mess. Jennifer enjoyed helping to mix, and to decorate the cakes once they had baked. I was surprised by how quick and easy it was to do, and how good the end result was- the cakes looks realy appetising! The whole family enjoyed eating them, they didnt last long at all so I will definetely be putting this cake mix on my shopping list so we can make more.

"fun, easy and yummy"

Whilst my daughter (7) and son (2) got their aprons on and washed their hands i quickly read the instructions, pre heated the oven and measured the butter and milk. Once ready, the kids put the cases onto the tray and took it in turns pouring the ingredients into the bowl and mixing.

Once mixed they both spooned the mixture into the cases sneeking a few cheeky licks of the spoon! whilst they were cooking and the kids finished licking the bowl and spoons. They used the stickers and fun booklet that came inside the pack which i thought was a really good idea to keep them occupied whilst the cakes cook and cool rather than staring drooling at the oven asking are they ready yet? And me having to frantically blow on a scorching hot cake! By the time they had finished the funfilled booklet they cakes were ready to decorate!

My son poured the icing into the bowl and my daughter the water and then they both mixed to form a yummy pink strawberry icing. I thought the icing was very generous as kids cake mixes i have brought before ive been lucky if i could ice half the cakes! So i was really please that sticking by 1 teaspoon of icing per cake we managed to ice them all. The kids loved icing the cakes and sticking on their tom or jerry wafer toppers, they made one each for daddy and one for mummy.. well my diet was never going to stick! We put the cakes to one side and of course like every good chef washing up had to be done! As the kids were loving the independance of doing everything themselfs i decided to let them wash up their utensils which they thoroughly enjoyed splashing around.

Once finished they both sat down for a nice cake and gave me mine and their little sister (14 months) hers to! They tasted yummy and the texture was a lot fluffier than other kids cake mixes also they were more moist, needless to say they didnt last long! When daddy got home each child proudly presented their creation to him and he polished them both off with a cup of tea! These cakes were fun to make for the kids and fun for me to watch them feel independant and creative. They tasted lovely, easy to make, reasonably priced and generous on the ingredients. Ive never been one for using the kids mixes due to the taste but i will definately be buying these again!

"We had fun!"

I've tried a few cake mixes in the past but didn't really find them necessary as my cup cakes made from scratch are not that hard to make and taste great - if I do say so myself ;-)
Green's Barbie cake mix made making the cakes more fun and that's where it proved me wrong.
It was easy for my 4 year old to put the ingredients in the bowl and mix it herself - although I would have preferred not to have had to measure and add the butter.
The activities that came with the cake mix made it more than worth it and kept my little one occupied until it was time to ice the cakes. It was easy to mix the icing and fun piping it on - although very messy with her trying to get the hang of it. She also loved the hearts to put on top.
The cakes tasted nice and we had fun making them - all for a reasonable price. Not much more I could ask for from a box of cake mix.

"lots of fun for little hands"

My 3 year old had lots of fun making these with daddy, didnt make as much mess as I thought they would and I heard lots of giggling and lip smacking (im surprised the toppings made it to the cakes!). I asked my son if he liked making the cakes and all he could say was yum yum thanks mummy :)

"mmmm"

baking always takes me back to my childhood and i love it!
the thing i love about these cake packs is the fact that they are so easy and no measuring, we tried the Barbie pack and unfortunately we had to measure out some butter. the battery on my scales had ran out so i had to guess.whilst the cakes were cooking and cooling we looked at the games and stickers in the pack. lauren who is 3 and prone to tantrums at the moment realised the cut out barbie had no shoes to go with her outfits so ran off in a huff.
other than the measuring issues and the shoes it was very straight forward and easy.Lauren and I had lots of fun and the end result was delicious!

"Soooo Easy "

Me and my daughter age 7 made these. We were had the tom and jerry pack. As well as the items to make the cakes there were also stickers, puzzles and bookmarks to cut out. The instructions are so easy to follow and it doesnt create much mess as there is only the butter to weigh out.

The cakes werent perfect, but they looked ok and tasted nice. My daughter and I had a great time making these.

"Lovely Cakes & so easy :o)"

Girls wanted to make them straight away but told them we would make them today ready for Nanas birthday tomorrow.
The instructions on the box are really easy to understand and my girls took turns Lilli emptied the mix into the bowl and Amelia mixed the egg, milk & butter.
They then took turns to mix the cake mix.
The cases were slightly squashed but managed to put the mix in.
My girls then had the best job licking the bowl & spoons...cake mix all up their faces they loved it.
The cakes took 10 mins to cook, they came out a little wonky but think that is because the cases were a bit squashed. I put them on a wire tray to cool. Lilli came in dressed as Peppa Pig and had a sniff of the cakes she couldnt wait to get decorating them.
I started off trying to pipe on the cake topping but it was a bit messy and Lilli and Amelia wanted to do it so gave them a spoon each and they got to work on the cakes, they had great fun getting messy and decorating.
We all tried one after our hard work and they really do taste lovely a definate improvement on their older cake mixes I have tried in the past.
Well done Greens & Thank you xxx
