"very clear ad concise"
Not being an avid home food maker I was a little dubious about this. But once I got the book and read through it I have found that home preserving is actually possible!!
The instructions were easy to understand and laid out vey well, without any jargon. the book isn't too big either and easy to hold.
I liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking into doing home preserving.

I enjoyed the book despite it not being something that I have previously been interested in. The layout was appealing with one recipe per page and it made me want to try some of the recipes as they were easy to follow with lovely illustrations.
There were a variety of recipes to try ranging from jams to sauces and ketchups. Some recipes were more complicated than others too. I tried a couple of the easier ones, a plum sauce and flavoured vinegars and they both turned out super.
Although this wasnt a title I would have purchased, I actually enjoyed both reading the book and trying out the recipes. A good recipe book overall, which does more than it says on the label!
I would recommend this to both experienced and novice cooks.

"Good simple Recipes"
My first impressions of the book from looking at the cover was that it was going to be another old fashioned cook book aimed at the older generation.
But when I started to read through it my mind was soon changed!
The recipes are easy to follow with clear instructions. There are a lot of modern twists on classic chutneys. Even a beginner would struggle to struggle with these recipes! It gives lots of ideas for all seasons.
It is a shame about the front cover because first impressions count for a lot, but as I said once you read on the book is ok, giving loads of recipe ideas.

"Not my usual read!"
I got the email... we're sending you a book to review... 'good home preserving guide' hmm.. my excitement was soon turned into a little disappointment after reading the title!
So as the book came through the door I wasn't overly eager to open. I knew it was a book.. about preserves.. what else can it be??
Well actually for a woman who has previously shown no interest what so ever in this subject matter i am now a chutney making pro! :) I haven't attempted the jams yet but i will!
The book is set out lovely- nice crisp white pages, very easy on the eye font and clear instructions from jar types to the finish product and all the steps in between.
I can't really say too much about this book- i think for a keen preserve maker they'd LOVE this book. It is a specialist area (and being a non-specialist)I thought it was ok! :)
Happy jam and chutney making!
