"Sweet little baa lamb :)"
Ewan the dream sheep is a really cute toy, with a great secret! First impressions of him were that he was bugger than i expected, and very very soft and cuddly. My 22 month old ran off with him as soon as i had him out of the packaging, which i thought was a good start! His controls were a bit confusing to begin with, but once i got the hang of changing the sounds etc it was actually really easy. My little one didn't like the light, but she prefers to sleep in total darkness anyway. I thought it was a nice nightlight, gentle enough not to be disruptive but bright enough to be soothing. The range of sounds is good. The womb sounds are a bit old for my little girl now, but they sound just like the noises i recorded through my doppler when i was pregnant with her :)
I think had we received this when she was a newborn it would have been fantastic. She loves it, and takes it to bed every night for a cuddle. But the sounds are a bit lost on her!
I'm not sure i would pay £29.99 for it though, maybe i would have done when she was tiny and i was sleep-deprived :)

"lovely little sheep"
When i found out i was getting Ewan the dream sheep i was really excited because my son Ewan has just turned 2 and still has problems getting to sleep and staying asleep although i did wonder whether it would work on a toddler.
When it came i opened it and my son gave it a cuddle but as soon as i turned it on he was scared of it so i put it to the side and just let him get used to it.
After a few days he did like the sheep and gave it cuddles and played with it during the day but he will not have it in his bed. I think if he had this as a baby then it might have grown with him and would probably be his comfort at night but maybe he is just too old for something like this now.
It also doesn't seem to have an off button so you just have to wait 20 minutes for it to turn off or put it on "try me" mode which doesn't last as long.
I think for a newborn baby this would be wonderful but didn't do much for my toddler unfortunately and at £30.00 it is quite expensive if it only gets used as a toy.

"Amazing!!"
I was more than slightly dubious when I saw Ewan- The Dream Sheep.... I looked it up and read all about the womb/heartbeat sounds to remind the baby of being inside. My son is now 26 months old so I thought it was a long shot! But wow did this surprise me!
When it arrived it looked great, fantastic packaging with lots of information (maybe to much to be honest!) all over it, the sheep is just so adorable! He is extremely soft and well made. The velcro strap does up the whole way so there is no danger to little ones, and there is a "try me" mode on the sheep.
My son is now 26 months and breastfeeds to sleep at night (although he does sleep through generally). I told my son that Ewan needs cuddles to go to sleep and when he's asleep the music and the light will go off. So I put him into bed awake with the sheep, his favourite sound is the harp with the heartbeat/womb sounds behind it, the first night I had to hold his hand but each night since he has fallen asleep within 5 to 10 minutes cuddling Ewan! Fantastic!!
To be honest I'm not sure that my son remembers the noises from being inside as it has been over 2 years! But the sounds are relaxing and mean that he doesnt hear any other noises in the house that would stir him (being an inquisitive 2 year old!).
The only down side that I can see is that the sheep is mainly white and it is just surface wash only so if you have a sicky baby or need to take this out in a pushchair etc then it will end up getting dirty.
I am amazed that this sheep has the power to put my 2 year old to sleep alone without breastmilk! Fantastic Ewan!

"Adorable Ewan"
On the cuteness alone Ewan the sheep scores 10 out of 10. It is a lovely toy suitable for babies from birth +. It plays 4 soothing sounds which according to the blurb on the box are "proven to help your baby to sleep". As my little son didn't read the blurb, he doesn't know he is supposed to fall asleep. He likes the toy and enjoys the melody, but does it make him fall asleep? No, unfortunately in our case it doesn't. So in theory it is a great idea, but in practice it is not so effective. Ewan plays heartbeat & womb sound combinations, which remind me of the baby monitor that I had on in the hospital on the day my son was born. In fact, the sound is very reassuring, and I personally find it very peaceful and calming. If anything, I myself find it sleep-inducing, but not my child. Maybe it works better with newborn babies who still remember vividly what it was like inside their Mummy. I don't want to score it low because it didn't work for my child, but at £29.99 it is quite pricey, especially if you only use it as a cuddly toy.
