"Great combination car seat" We bought the Concord Ultimax after seeing it mentioned on The Baby Website. Our youngest daughter is 9 months old. She was getting too long for her infant carrier seat, but still doesn't weigh enough to have a Group 1 seat. The Ultimax is ideal for her as she can still sit rear facing, but she seems to have more room to 'stretch out'. The seat looks very comfortable and she always seems happy when she's sitting it it.
The biggest problem we had with our infant carrier was that it moved around a lot on the car seat. As my daughter wriggled and kicked, the seat belt would gradually tighten and the seat would tip up. This was made worse as I would often leave the seat in the car and lift my daughter in and out of it. We haven't had this problem at all with the Ultimax. The base is very wide and sturdy, and the seat belt strapping system means that the seat stays very firmly in place. It doesn't move about on the seat at all.
The seat is very well made and feels very strong. The shoulder straps have well-fitted padded covers and the strap tightener is easy to reach and pull, even when the seat is fitted in the rear facing position. The only problem I have found is that it is sometimes quite difficult to tighten the shoulder straps. This is particularly difficult when my daughter is wearing a coat.
The Ultimax comes in wonderful colours - we have the 'Mood' design, which looks great. The seat costs more than some other seats, but it is definitely worth it, especially as our daughter will be able to use the seat for the next 2-3 years. We are very pleased we bought the Ultimax.

"Difficault to fit alone." When I received this seat to test I was very pleased at the overall look of the seat and the safety componants it had.
It is a chunky safe looking seat, it reclines and has an adjustable head rest - both are easy to use.
The base fits into the car seperately from the seat itself. It is suitable from birth and then changing the position of the base makes it suitable from approx 9mths - 4yrs.
Removing the seat from the base is difficault - you have to hold 2 handles and push the seat upwards at the same time. when out of the car there is no tension to hold the base still which makes this very difficault when doing it alone. When in the car there is little room to manouvre - so again doing it alone is difficault.
I had to adjust the strap heights before fitting the seat as Charlie is a tall 18mth old. After removing the straps and re-positioning in the correct holes you have to pull tightly to position metal clips correctly at the rear of the seat - this was very hard to do - i was not strong enough to make them 'click' into position as the book tells you to - i had to use a hammer to force the metal clip into place!
Putting the base into the car prooved difficault to do alone.
Firstly you position the base on the carseat. Then position seatbelt correctly, clip it in and run it through guides. Next bit is hard to do alone - pull the seatbelt taught from the bottom, pushing the base into the carseat so theres no slack. Then pull the seatbelt at the shoulder to ensure its tight - seatbelt must be threaded through a ratchett type clip which needs to be levered to hold the belt taught at all times. I found i needed 3 hands and pressure on the base at the same time.
After 3 attempts at fitting i finally had it safely fitted and there was little movement from the seat.
Then you lower the seat into the base which clicks into place.
Charlie is comfortable in the seat, it is nicely padded and the straps are easy to tighten and release.
The cover is easily removed for washing and easily replaced after.
The value for money is very good, you cant put a price on safety and the ratchett clip for tightening the sealtbelt is an excellent idea!
If it wasn't quite so complicated I would recommend it, but the time it took me to fit was too long for me.

"Very Comfortable!" I was asked to review this carseat and I was really excited to receive it! When I first looked at it, it appeared to be really complicated to fit. When we tried to fit it into the car....It WAS really complicated! BUT.....after I'd fitted it a couple of times, it's really easy now, it just took a little practice! It has a special tension bit that makes the seat stay really still which I think is a Brilliant idea!
The carseat itself is very comfortable and Logan falls asleep in it no bother, then I can lie him back with one hand quite easily. I love the colour (Aqua) as it's really bright and boyish. I also Love the padding on the straps and on the piece that comes up between his legs, it doesn't dig in anywhere. It's really easy to adjust the straps to make it easier to get Logan in and out of the seat.
The only small suggestion I have is that it could be higher off the seat as Logan can't see much out of the window. I've seen some carseats that are quite high so it would have been a plus for me to have it a little higher.
Overall, I LOVE it and would recommend it to other mums!
