"Tom Loves His New Car Seat"
Concord Lift Evo PT car seat

My son is getting bigger, as sons and daughters tend to, and so I had been looking around for a new car seat for a while. The Concord Lift Evo PT car seat came top in a lot of research fields. It had been highly rated in tests for safety (the PT stands for Protection) and Mother and Baby Magazine voted it best junior car seat for 2006/2007. Priced at around £79 it is quite pricey but there are certain things you don't want to cut corners on.

When I got around to checking it out in store the first thing that struck me was the weight. It's really easy to handle at 5.2 kg and it is so much easier to install in your car than the baby car seats we were moving on from. At first I had my doubts whether it was the right choice as it looked huge, but what did this more than anything were the side wings. However, as soon as I used the seat it became clear that these not only gave added comfort to my son but also lent the seat the look of one of those fancy ones you see in the Space Shuttle. Tom liked that and the whole 'grown-up' look of the seat meant that there were no sniffles about moving from the front to the rear of the car, something about which I had been concerned.

It's fit for children around 15-36 kg and apparently can be used from ages 4-12. I'm slightly sceptical about this claim as that seems like an unfeasibly large span and I recall that when I was 12 I was already taller than my mum. Still, this is a minor labelling quibble on what is otherwise a great buy.

It's easy to lift, simple to install and move, safe and it makes Tom feel like Buzz Aldrin. Perfect.
