Serves:  4
 
Ingredients:
275ml/1/2 pint milk
2 tbsp double cream
a few drops of vanilla extract
2 egg yolks
1 tbsp caster sugar (or more to taste)
1 level tsp cornflour

 
Method:
Put the milk and cream in a pan and simmer over a low heat.
Meanwhile mix the egg yolks, sugar and cornflour together in a bowl.

Pour the hot milk and cream on to the eggs and sugar, whisking all the time with a balloon whisk.

Return the mixture to the pan and add the vanilla extract.
Put the pan back on the hob and and stir over a low heat until thickened.

Cook Time: 20-30 mins
