Miracle Babies
Currently 1 in 6 couples are experiencing fertility problems. This is predicted to grow to 1 – 3 by 2015.Miracle Babies was written as a result of Gilli Moorhawk’s own 4-year struggle with infertility, which included 5 pregnancy losses, two ectopic pregnancies- this led to the surgical removal of both her fallopian tubes leaving her unable to conceive naturally; plus one failed IVF – undertaken at a clinic in South Africa. So Gilli understands just how important hope is for the increasingly large number of couples who have problems conceiving - 100,000 couples in the UK alone.
Miracle Babies is designed to give hope to women struggling with infertility – to know that even though their problems may seem difficult other women in worse situations have gone on to have the baby they longed for. It features stories from women who have suffered all aspects of infertility and pregnancy loss, miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, still births, explained fertility, unexplained fertility, polycystic ovaries, fibroids, IVF, yet against all the odds eventually had the baby they longed for.

People who haven’t experienced fertility problems can often be thoughtless without realising it and this extends to members of the medical profession – one contributor was told by a doctor as she was being wheeled into surgery following a failed miscarriage that he’d “Clean her out good and proper so the next one would stick”.. “Clean me out.” She said later. “I didn’t know I was dirty!”
Miracle Babies also looks at infertility from the side of the husband/partner and the prospective grandparents. They are one group who are almost totally neglected – not only do they have the personal grief of not having they grandchildren they hope for but they have to go through the pain of watching their children struggle and suffer no knowing what to do or say to help.
Gilli has paid for the book to be published herself so all writers royalties can be donated to fertility charities. If you would like to buy MIRACLE BABIES by Gilli Moorhawk then click here. .

Miracle BabiesLaura had been trying to get pregnant for four years and with four previous miscarriages and 7 failed fertility treatments things were getting desperate. This was going to be her last try with IVF. Her excitement at finding out she was pregnant was short lived as blood tests showed her hormone levels were falling. Her doctors said the pregnancy wasn’t viable and recommended doing and immediate
D & C.
After years of fertility treatment and being sick and tired of needles and prodding, Laura decided she’d allow nature to take its course and waited for her miscarriage to proceed on its own. When nothing had happened a week later she reluctantly returned to the hospital to have the D & C. The doctors arranged an ultrasound scan before the surgery and after a few minutes the technician turned to Laura and her husband and said “Would you like to see your baby’s heart beating?”
Laura says, “We just lost it. My husband and I started to cry. We just stared at the screen looked at that little heat fluttering away. I’m so deeply thankful I let nature take her course and didn’t have that surgery or our precious baby wouldn’t be here today”
Jane
Remarried at 40 and although she already had a child from a previous relationship, she really wanted another child. Increasingly desperate following miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy where she lost one tube, and conscious at 42 that time was very much of the essence, she begged her doctor to give her injectible fertility drugs. “I think the poor man only gave it to me to get me out of his office,” she said with a smile . “ I was that desperate, I wouldn’t have left the hospital without them.” Sadly the first month of treatment led to another failure. “I was so disappointed; I’d really hoped it would work for me.” Blood tests showed her FSH had gone up to 23; which doctors say means your chances of getting pregnant are virtually nil. “But I had enough drugs for another cycle, so I thought I might as well try,” Jane says. “You could have knocked me down with an ovulation stick when I saw those two blue lines on my pregnancy test.”
