Post Pregnancy Nutrition
"Having a new baby in the house is an amazing experience, but one that can leave you with little time to spend on taking care of yourself. Eating well and thinking about your own health at this time is vital though, and can be quicker and simpler than you think. Being a mum is hugely rewarding, but can be exhausting too - and a healthy diet will help to refresh and strengthen your body and mind. Although it can be tempting to diet in order to get your pre-pregnancy figure back, you should take it easy. Never skip meals, and never starve yourself. Eating sensibly and concentrating on getting the right nutrients is the best way to reach your target weight in a safe way. Try to include plenty of protein, calcium and iron in your diet. Lean meat and fish including salmon taste great with steamed green vegetables or salad, as well as giving you plenty of fuel for keeping up with your new arrival. Don 't forget that if you have chosen not to breastfeed you should try to be more active than usual to shift the fat stores."

Eating for Energy
"Rushing to work, looking after your children and simply getting through the busy days we all seem to experience can be a real drain on your energy levels. Enjoying a good nights ' sleep is very important, but is not the only way to avoid feeling sluggish. Eating a healthy and balanced diet will also give you the energy to enjoy life to the full, as well as looking and feeling good. When I have a busy day at work, eating well at lunchtime makes a real difference to how I feel in the afternoon. I make sure that I have time to tuck into a meal which includes a good serving of energy-boosting protein, such as a jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn, a salmon and salad sandwich or pasta salad with beans.
Of course, if you are having difficulty sleeping just making it from nine until five can seem like a real challenge. It may sound old fashioned, but a drink of warm milk at bedtime can help you sleep better - and isn 't just for children! It contains calcium, crucial for promoting a good night 's sleep and ensuring that you wake up relaxed, refreshed and ready to face the day."
