Canvas Knows Camping

Canvas Holidays was the first tour operator to offer package mobile home and camping holidays to Europe over 45 years ago. Today we consider ourselves camping experts, with over 90 hand-picked sites across eight European countries including France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Holland. Our campsites combine all the features of a luxury hotel-style resort, typically offering fantastic pool complexes, bars, restaurants and shops. There are also plenty of activities to enjoy from children’s clubs, tennis courts to golf courses.

You Make the Rules

One of the great advantages of a Canvas Holiday is the total flexibility – you can choose your own departure day and stay on as many sites as you wish. There’s even a choice of

travel options available. Once on site, the freedom continues - unlike hotels or guesthouses, you can get up at your leisure, eat when you want and wear what you want to dinner. You set the pace of your adventure.

It’s hard to find a holiday that will appeal to the whole family, but we are experts at keeping everyone entertained. Our campsites are designed with families in mind – you’ll find everything you need, from wonderful pool complexes and twisting waterslides to a wide choice of sporting activities and entertainment. Children will love the freedom to play outside all day, discovering new places and making new friends. With Canvas children’s clubs also available on many campsites, including our exclusive FamilyExtra sites, there is plenty of opportunity for mum and dad to relax for a few hours as well! We also have sites close to some of Europe’s best theme parks. Wear the children out with an action packed day out at Disneyland® Paris or PortAventura, then chill out back at your campsite.

Camping is for Couples Too

Whether you love city sightseeing, relaxing on the beach or discovering the gastronomic delights of a region, we have ideal escapes for couples. Explore the vineyards close to our Burgundy sites, tour the Tuscan countryside or bask on the golden sands of the Cote d’Azur. Travelling out of the main holiday season means that you can take advantage of quieter resorts, when the weather is often just as warm. We also offer short breaks of 3-6 nights if you just want to escape a few days or a long weekend. With many campsites within easy reach of regional airports, and our competitive car hire prices, you can be relaxing on site within a couple of hours.

Quality Accommodation

Luxury camping is not an oxymoron with Canvas!

We have a fantastic range of accommodation available, starting with our spacious Maxi Tent. It has two separate bedrooms and a separate kitchen area, equipped with a four-ring cooker and grill, plus fridge and ice box. With a separate living area away from the kitchen, curtains at the windows and electric lighting throughout, this is no ordinary tent!

If you prefer a little more luxury, we have a range of mobile homes, from our two bedroom Classic to the three bedroom Deluxe. If you’re travelling with a big family group, why not try our exclusive Deluxe Lodges at Berny Rivière near Paris, which sleep up to ten people. For a more unique experience, you could even try a night high in the treetops with our Treehouses, or stay in the heart of the French countryside in a Roulotte de Campagne, our bohemian–style gypsy caravans.

All our accommodation is fully equipped with a comprehensive range of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen utensils – everything you need for a great self-catering holiday. We also provide a garden patio set. Some mobile homes even have the added luxury of microwaves, dishwashers, espresso makers and flat screen TV monitor and DVD players for a real home away from home.

What to Take With You

All our accommodation is equipped with pillows and blankets so you just need to bring sheets, pillow cases and towels. Or f you want to save room in your bags you can use our linen hire service. We supply kitchen essentials like crockery, pots, pans and cooking utensils such as tin openers and scissors, but remember to bring dish cloths and tea towels for doing your dishes. If you are arriving late at night, you may want to take a few basic items, such as washing up liquid, tea bags, coffee and sugar. To make travelling with a baby or toddler even easier, we even offer travel cot and highchair hire, which must be requested at the time of booking.

If you’ve never driven in Europe before, don’t panic, we have plenty of useful advice for first-timers on our website. Before you set off, remember that when driving in most European countries it is compulsory to carry with you a spare set of bulbs, first aid kit, warning triangle and high visibility jacket, plus headlight beams must be adjusted for right hand drive. Finally you’ll need a GB/IRL bumper sticker, which we supply in your Travel Pack.
