Right I have managed to wean Amelia onto bottles because I have to stop breastfeeding, but how much s she supposed to have?

Im getting worried about her, she only had 20.5 oz yesterday.
This morning I gave her a 5oz bottle she drank nearly all of it then threw up all over me. Then she had 2oz. All day she has been messing just having 4oz a feed at the most.

I dont know what she is supposed to have anyone please help... :(

Dont worry hun, she will take what she needs. As long as she is putting on weight theres nothing to worry about. I worry all the time about the amount of milk Chloe takes, some days she only has about 16oz. After a full nights sleep she takes 3oz!!! The most she will take in one feed is 5oz and thats not very often, she usually has between 3-4oz. HV said as long as shes putting on weight its fine.

When I was bottlefeeding Kian I just used to go on what it said on the side of the tin for his weight. That's only a guide though so it doesn't apply to all babies. Maybe you could google it & see ahat comes up???

Sorry can't help more hun. Maybe someone else will have a better idea than me?

Erin on average is only taking 10 - 12oz but she should be on more but no one is worried as she is putting on weight most of the time.
We make 4oz bottles up and she 1st thing takes a full one and then she can take 2 oz or even just 1oz and settle again.

Ameila will take what she needs, try making up a few bottles to 4oz and just see how she goes, she will let you know if she needs more xx

Don't worry Emma, that's just a guide. All babies are different. As long as she is gaining weight she's fine. Just mention it to your HV next time you see her or give her a ring if you are worried.

Emma just a tip for you, bottle fed babies tend to take in more air than b'f babies try stopping after every 1or 2 oz's and winding her. It may be that any milk on top of the air she has taken is being brought up when you wind her

hope that helps hun (((hugs))))

xx

Ignore the side of the tin Emma , its just a guide and all babies are differnt.
Winding her after a couple of oz is a good idea to make sure she has plenty of room for more.

Dont worry as long as she is putting on weight hun xx

I didn't mean to scare you with the side of the tin hun. I'm so sorry. It's only a rough guide. So I searched the net & I just found this on another site...

From the age of two months up to six months, you should be feeding your baby 4-6oz at a feeding, and he'll have anything from 23 to 35oz a day. Bear in mind that these are only rough guidelines, and your baby will let you know if he's getting too much or too little formula. If you are not sure, talk with your health visitor.
Appetites vary from baby to baby, and most babies change from day to day and month to month. Your baby will feed as often as he needs to, as long as you learn to detect his cues and respond to them appropriately. Make sure you don't automatically give a bottle every time your baby cries - in time you'll learn to read his actions and work out whether he's hungry or just needs attention.
