When Abbie was discharged from Neo natal we were told she would have to attend an outpatients appointment. Only 1 or so i thought.
Card came in and both girls are being made to attend. Went along today and have been told they have to go EVERY 3 MONTHS FOR 2 YEARS! ffs - and it is out in WIshaw - a good half hour drive. away. Plus they have to continue to take Iron supplement till at least 6 months but more likely until they are 2 years - just because they are prem! [smilie=2guns.gif] [smilie=2guns.gif] No-one has ever even checked to see if they need Iron, but assume they do. grrrrr
So at the appointment today - all they did was check their weight and head size (stuff my HV does every fortnight). Then checked to see if they were developing - grab things, coo, look at hands etc. I then said Abbie is almost ready to sit up on her own - "No way they are far too young for that!" was the answer. So to prove a point, Abbie pulled herself up and laughed. Then as usual when held upright, she planted her feet firmly on the bed, and tried to walk. The Dr couldn't believe it - they shouldn't be doing that. Well what do you want us to do - tie them down and stop them from trying [smilie=2guns.gif] Katie was requested to do the same, and she lifted her legs and laughed at the Dr - swinging happily from her hands hehehehehe.
xx

Haha that's great, i love it when doctors are proved wrong when they're so sure of things! My OH's nephew was born very premature at 24 weeks and weighed 1lb 12 at birth - which I think wasn't a bad birth weight for that gestation -, he had 20% chance of survival and doctors said he will probably have at least one major thing wrong with him, however he has just turned 3 and is as fit as a fiddle - if not a little crazy  Must be in the family coz Jack's a little crackers too haha

I bet you felt so proud, a real proud mummy moment.

thanks ladies. I was so proud of wee Abbie - especially after the tough start in life she had and there she was showing off to the Dr 8)
Even better the 2 of the have ate like nothing on this earth today - all but finished all 7oz bottles 4 times today. First time for everything - normally we struggle to get them to take above 5oz (and even then that can be a real fight )
Every 3 months is going to be a pain in the bum especially when I go back to work, cos I will be working Mon and Tuesday - and the clinic is on a Tuesday. Hmmmm looks like Neil going to have to take time off his work
xx
