Watched the X Factor last night in a great state of excitement as Lucie Jones, the 18 year old dark-haired girl who sang the Whitney song, was due to be on. Lucie was in Maddie's class all the way through school and we know she's through to the judge's house round, so we also knew her audition was going to be good. But flip, I had no idea it was going to be that good. I've heard her sing in school concerts before and was impressed but last night was something else. Was riled by the whole 'coming from a tiny village' thing though as you can see from my Blog Entry here...

What did you reckon to last night's show?

Not seen it yet as my parents just popped down (10 hour drive) to help build our new shed as my pits are poorly and mum hates it so off to watch it now :D

We thought she was amazing, Izzy (although she's only 6) loves x-factor and said she was going to win as soon as she started singing!! :D

i watched it and she was very good! :D
I totally agree about the 'needing a story' bit - every good singer on there has a story to tell - I suppose they have to make the show fantastic somehow :? but why not let the audience make up their own minds, without all the sad stories, bring that in if they get further on into the show! Living in a small village is hardly gonna get her loads of extra votes though!

I've just read yout blog entry Kathryn, and I couldn't agree more! I never saw the X Factor episode in question (not a fan of the show at all), but I do agree about what you said about Lucie Jones living in a 'tiny village'. If the girl has obvious talent, why does it make any difference whether she came from a village in South Wales or from an igloo in the Central Arctic? Why can't people these days just be famous for their talents and merits, rather than such shows as the X factor, insist on attempting to pluck people's heartsrings and get the public's sympathy vote? Surely, in this day and age, when you can become famous purely for appearing on Big Brother (I'll leave that rant for another day), people who actually DO have talent should be praised for just that: being talented! It's such a rarity these days that such people shouldn't need a cra*py story so sell them, their talents should be doing it for them, in abundance!

Yes, She Lucie was fantastic, such a lovely powerful voice. Its such a talent to be able to sing.
I love X-factor, and the WORST, but funniest audition of the night was the French Lad who was obsessed with Mariah Carey, i was p***ing myself, his mannerisms and facial expressions were hilarious.

I think it makes it so much fun when you know a contestant. Last yrs Diana went to school with my best friends step daughter and they had seen her in school shows etc. We love the x factor, i took chloe to the tour this yr it was one of her xmas presents. She has so much 'stuff' I like giving her experiences as presents. She loved it.
