He'll be fine hun. It's in our nature to worry and stress about it. Jaidyn starts next week (eek), she was 5 last month and even though she is older than her brother and sisters when they started I'm a nervous wreck! God only knows why as she's the most out going of the lot
I was down South when Elijah (now 15) started, with that being a different system she was in the middle age group (January birthday) so we'll forget about her
Rheiya's birthday is the 25th January and she started in the August. Deferring her didn't even come into my mind, she was fine, although it was scary seeing her standing next to kids who looked double the size of her
. She's 13 now, heading into 3rd year and there is no difference between her and her mates who are all March/April babies and therefore nearly a year older than her.
Lucas is going into Primary 7 and has a friend who was deferred due to a February birthday and one who wasn't. There is over a year between the two, but academically there is absolutely no difference.
Our system is very different up here, Reception in England & Wales is quite play based, our system is straight into full time learning. Having kids start school in both systems, I know how different they are.
Let him go and give it a couple of months, if you feel it's not right and he's out of his depth then take him out and defer him hun.
