I have almost run out of my usual foundation so went to the department store on Sunday to pick up my usual YSL foundation. However, the lady at the YSL counter told me that YSL have discontinued the product, didn't have any of my usual shade left, and the new product wouldn't be launched until August!

Normally, I wouldn't be bothered but this is 'my' foundation that I have used for the past 5 years as it is the only foundation I have ever used that matches my skin tone exactly, and as have a dark skin tone finding an exact match is never easy! All others are too yellow, (so make me look grey), or too red and make me look flushed and much darker!

So, seeing as my usual foundation had ceased to exist, I decided to go shopping for another one. I tried many counters in Fenwick's but they were all the wrong shades for my skin tone. In a desperate attempt, I went to The Body Shop, and found a lovely assistant who matched my skin tone perfectly with one of their oil-free foundations and when she applied it on my skin, you could barely see it! As they had an offer on, I bought the powder too, both for a third of the price of my usual foundation. As I had money left over, I decided to get Oscar a haircut, as with the heat it was annoying him, and also a couple of pairs of shorts for him from Next.

So, for the price of my usual YSL foundation, I bought: a foundation, pressed powder, 2 pairs of 3-4 year shorts and got Oscar a haircut too!

How thrifty of me! I'm quite proud of myself!

Thanks! :D It's never been somewhere I would think to go for make up, but it's not bad at all! :D

Sel you can sometimes buy the discontinued ones online. I've bought Elizabeth Arden and Estee Lauder discontinued make-up ranges from HalfPricePerfumes and Fragrance Direct. In fact one of the foundations I bought should have been £21.99 and I paid £4.99 for it. So take a look.

Body Shop stuff is good though too as you said. :)
