The council are replacing our this post is spam & bathroom, which are both in desperate need of modernisation. So yesterday the contractors started and ripped out the this post is spam, the numpty plumber ripped out the sink which was meant to be freakin' left in and the guy the removed the tiles from the bathroom has left huge holes everywhere. We got a temperory stand alone sink put in, which is just yuk, it's all wobbly and there is no way I am washing dishes or anything else in it. But it's only for a week..............................or so I freakin' thought.

Workers finished at around 3pm yesterday, day one over and done with, today I was meant to be getting the floorboards in the this post is spam replaced. I say meant to because at 4:30pm the Council Liaison Officer turns up to tell me all work has STOPPED. Someone in the street has made a complaint and therefore all work has to stop until it is investigated. She couldn't tell me how long it will take, or when work will restart, therefore I haven't a clue as to how long we have to live in something the Nick Knowles and the gang could work wonders with.

I was left with holes all over the bathroom wall, no carpet in the top hallway (need to get under the floorboards for electrics), two huge gaping holes in my this post is spam wall (for the extractor fan and combi boiler vent), no flooring in the this post is spam and just a cooker and a crappy stand alone sink in there. My lounge has my fridge freezer, washing machine & tumble dryer in it (6 of us in the house with no plumbed in washing machine, oh freakin' fantastic). A load of furniture is in storage, the girls' room is a pit becasue everything has had to be moved around as they need access to about 1/3 of the floor space, Lucas' room is the same and our room is like something out of Steptoe and Son (yes ok so you young things won't have a clue what I mean, google it!).

So I now have two of our old throws (discovered in the attic) acting as a carpet in the upstairs hall, the boxes full of this post is spam stuff have been dumped back in the this post is spam to give us room in the lounge. I've covered the gaping this post is spam holes with paper and my dad's dust sheets are acting as flooring in the this post is spam. I'll move some stuff out of our room into the two huge spaces of empty carpet in the kids room so we can actually move in there. We are de-camping to my parents' for the weekend (Rheiya is decamping to her best mate's) and no doubt we'll be de-camping next weekend too.

I'll wash everything at my mum's this weekend and my mate (Rheiya's best mate's mum) has offered the use of her washing machine and dryer for next week.

As if this week hasn't been hard enough
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH

Nightmare chick, but typical of SLC!
I am just along the road if you need sanity - off Monday and Tuesday next week plus weekends obviously. If you want showers etc, just give me shout, or to just use washing machine tumble dryer. Now if they just had delayed the work another 10 weeks you could have moved in here (and I would have a free babysitter       )
xx

Work is restarting on Monday, so only two days behind. Thanks for the offer tho' hun.
The plumber did come yesterday morning and reconnect the washing machine, which was a huge relief, but did have has thinking the worst in terms of how long a delay we were facing. Peter phoned our liaison officer at 4pm yesterday and she told us she had literally finished the call giving the go ahead to restart. Apparently there was suspect asbestos in a house and the resident had complained!!! FFS hardly the council's fault!
Normally suspect asbestos only delays the house it's in for a day while a guy checks it out, but because there had been a complaint, all work had to stop. But at least we have a restart date, kids will have uniform for Wed-Fri washed, so no need to panic over washing next week. (Gonna be like a Chinese laundry in here when it's all done and I'n trying to catch up!!)

That's not too bad - only 2 days behind. I hope they don't take long to finish yours once they start it.

Thank Goodness for that Yvonne. Being without a washing machine is terrible. Could live with a few holes in the wall and no carpet but the washing machine...... :?

We were living in a similar state when I was pregnant, there was builders around everywhere for a couple of months, we were without furniture and lots of dust! It was the same a couple of years ago. Oscar and I stayed at MIL's during the day and had to return to the 'bombsite' overnight for 3 weeks. Nightmare!

Here's hoping the bulders crack on with things prompto so there aren't any more delays!
