I have been wondering when is the 'right' time for this. Christine (my 9 year old) is going on a school trip for 3 nights in May with 10 and 11 year old, and I would not like her to hear details from them, as I would like to tell her myself. http://www.thebabywebsite.com/article.2 ... e_Bees.htm
Should I wait until she is older, or tell her a little bit before she goes?

When my girls were that age I had already told them? All 3 of my daughters had friends who had already started their periods at 9 so I felt it was really important.

Maybe the time is coming that I should be telling her soon. I will go to the library and see if there are any books on the subject.

Kira learnt most of it last year at school (9yrs), I just answered the questions she had when she came home.
I'm glad they did the classes at school because I wasn't sure how to brooch the subject with her, now she just comes to us when she has a querie

I hadn't even thought of this  Katie is 8. She hasn't really asked but I suppose the time will come when she will.

My son Jamie is 11 and never really mentioned anyting about being taught this at school. Do they teach it at primary school? Sorry to sound dumb
My son may just not have had any questions lol

From a teaching side - I know of many girls who have already started their periods by the time they are 9. It is a shame for the kids in my school when they start so young as they barely understand life in general without throwing that into the mix.
Up here in Scotland Primary 7's still get taught about all of this at school, but not sure if it happens down south.
Good luck
xx
