As some of you guys know, I came of the depo provera jab and started taking the pill again in the hope of getting the ball rolling and ttc around this time next year. I've been taking Cilest for around 6 weeks now, and it makes me feel so ill, I thought I was pregnant again! I had rediculously debilitating sickness in the early half of my pregnancy and I feel the same now. I'm always nauseated and struggle to hold my food down at times. My leg is very tender and sore so I have stopped taking it as the leaflet in the packet says to stop taking it immediately if this occurs as it could be a sign of thrombosis. I took some aspirin that alleviated the pain in my leg, so it's obvious that the pill is affecting my blood as aspirin thins your blood. I also have severe migraines and unusually bad stomach pains, dizziness, as well as sudden bouts of depression. It really isn't pleasant!

I have made a Doctor's appointment for Thursday morning to change the pill as it's obvious that it is the cause of my woes. I was perfectly fine on the depo, so I'm wondering if it's the increase in oestrogen that is making me feel like poo as the depo contains progestrone only. Therefore, I just wondered, if anyone is taking a low-oestrogen dose contraceptive pill, and how you're getting on with it?

Thanks all! :D

I'm on the combined pill so not much help I'm afraid. Know how you feel tho, I was on a pill for years and then the docs decided that it was giving me migraines ( I never had any more than is normal for me) and put me on a new pill. I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ill with it, exactly as you describe. After Ella I spoke to my GP and she has me on another one, which is fabby.
Hope you get it all sorted out soon tho chick
xx

Its marvelon that Im on. It contains ethinylestradiol and desogestrel, which are basically synthetic versions of oestrogen and progesterone.
They work by overiding the normal menstural cycle, and prepare the lining of the womb for a possible pregnancy, If the egg is not fertilised the hormone Levels drop and then you have your monthly period.

Ive been alright on mine at the minute, just a few headeaches here and there and hopefully that will be all the side effects that I get :?

That's what the combined pill is ( ). Most combined pills have between 30-35 mg (I think) of oestrogen and I'm wondering that as the depo doesn't contain any of this hormone and only contains progesterone, that it is the higher dose of oestrogen that is making me feel poo. That's the reason I want to know if anyone is on a lower-dose oestrogen pill and how they're getting on with it as Cilest is just not working for me!

Thanks Hon.

I've switched to the mini pill which is just the pill form of the depo provera jab, as it turns out I'm hyper-sensitive to oestrogen!
