Hi guys well ive been thinking ~ (dangerous I know) Well last time when I was pregnant with Eva I didn't make a birthing plan I just went with the flow of everything and the attitude of if I need pain relief I'll have it. I ended up having the epidural on day2 of labour. This time I was debating to try the birthing pool as people have told me its more relaxing. And hopefully this second birth will be quicker and I'd really rather not have an epidural this time! Who on here has had the birthing pool and what did you feel? xx

I never used a birthing pool, but with my second baby (Robert, now 8 years old) I was in the bath quite a bit before his birth, and it helped with the pain alot. I was not in it towards the end, but before it got that bad, it helped.

I never had a waterbirth but have friends whohave and they thought it was absolutely fantastic. I made a birth plan that stated definatley no water birth lol! Si really didn't like the idea of it neither! It's supposed to really relieve some of the pain though, especially teamed up with the gas and air.

I used the birthing pool when I was having Jennifer, it was great, warm , relaxing and really helped with the pain of contractions. I didnt actually have a water birth- I had to get out because they had to use the ventouse

I fancied one, but following advice from the hospital, took a warm bath to help with the contracions. While in the bath they went from 1 every 5 mins or so, to 1 that lasted 45 secs, away for 20 secs, and then back. By the time I made it to hospital water birth just wasn't an option. And dont think it will be this time either xx

I had a water birth and only used gas and air for around 30-40 minutes in total. I went into labour at 1.30am and by 3.30 I was in the hospital and was already 7cms dilated. I was in AGONY, the pain was tremendous but as soon as I got into the pool, the stress, fear, anguish and panic just disappeared. The midwives were amazing and very calming. Luckily, it was a quick labour and Oscar was in my arms by 7.55am. The whole thing was very calm and relaxed.
It was an amazing experience, and I just couldn't imagine giving birth to a 10lbs baby any other way!!!!

I would have loved to have had a water birth with Jack, but the hospital were only in the process of getting them installed and getting their midwives trained at that time. At least the option is there now for any other mothers.
