I HATE this Building Society
We had loads of trouble when my mum died, my sister and I went in TWICE to close her account down as they didn't take the right details from us the first time. My sister was STILL getting letters addressed to my mum in November (she passed away in March). She's had to send 2 more copies of the death certificate as they keep saying they haven't had them - even though we've taken 3 copies into the branch!
They keep apologising - then doing the same thing again - waste of time!
I lost Logans pass book as my mum had an account for him with Halifax, it was one where she paid money in every month. When she died, I told them that we weren't going to be putting money in every month like my mum had, it would just be birthdays, Christmas, etc. They told us we had to have a different account for this.
SO.....I lost his passbook and went to pay a cheque in from his modelling, the 2 women were chatting behind the counter, I was the only one in the queue, I had to wait whilst they finished their conversation.
I asked if I could pay a cheque into my sons account but haven't got his passbook. She told me she couldn't look his account up as it's client confidentiality - I told her he was 17 months old for gods sake - still couldn't let me pay it in. I went to other counter to ask for new passbook - was told that I have to close the account down and reopen another one as they don't replace pass books
Was told I could make an appointment to do this or could telephone the main number so I decided to come home and do it over the phone. I rang them to be told I could only do this in a branch.........I'd had enough now and told the poor bloke all about my visit to the crappy branch and how they told me I could do it over the phone. He was really apologetic, but still said I need to go into the branch to get his money out. He said he's relayed my concerns and complaints with the manager of the branch and I could ask for him if I want to. Think I'll just go to a different branch.
I've since opened him a new account with Nat West (which they let me do over the phone!) Let's hope that these are better!
