Hi Girls!

Wonder if you can help me. I'm combining expressing with formula and up until now have been using readymade. This is not very cost effective though so want to start using powder. I have read how to make the bottle up, but what about if I go out? At the moment with the readymade stuff I warm up a bottle and then put it in an insulated Tommee Tippee carrier which keeps it warm for 4 hours. Can I do the same with the powdered once it's made up? Is that a silly question? I'm not sure why I'm finding it so confusing! Any tips on formula would be very much appreciated. Have got two cartons of readymade left and then it's bite the bullet powder time! Eeek!

Yes Sarah you can heat up a formula bottle then put it in a bag to keep warm.....Also you can take a clean bottle out (some cooled boiled water in it) with a small box of your measured powder then if your at a cafe you just need to ask for a pot of hot water (Diane think had the right amounts)

Something like if you have 4oz colled boiled water then 3oz of hot add your powder shake and it would be perfect.

I use powdered at home and heat a bottle and then take it with us as Erin likes hers warm but Ruby and the boys loved it cold or room temp so used cartons, whatever works for you

Gillian that is perfect, you explained that so well! I don't know why I found it so confusing. I think there is so much conflicting information on the net so I should have come here first!

Thanks again hun. Hope you and family are all well. X

Hiya Sarah.

With Kian I used to make & bottle & put it in the fridge until it was well chilled then I used to take it out in an insulated carrier & take a thermos baby care flask out with me so I could warm the bottle up in the hot water from the flask. That way if we went to the park or whatever I didn't need to find somewhere to warm the bottle up for me! :D

I used to take cold water in a bottle, powder dispenser and hot water in a flask. Then I'd just add the hot water to the cold, chuck in powder and shake!

Not sure about asking for hot water as you don't know how often it's been boiled as boiling concentrates the minerals in the water, hence why they tell you to use fresh boiled water.

If im going out, then i tent to make the bottle up in the morning and keep in an insulated bag, then by the time it comes for her to have it its cooled enough and all i need to do is add the powder, which i take out in a pot with the right quantity x
