Hi I'm new, not sure how this works, anyone here to help me? Am mum to 14 week old baby daughter, and wondered if anyone had tips on how to get baby to sleep without major crying session? Thought we had a routine, but guess not by her reactions - help. We wait til she yawns, then go up to her nursery with curtains drawn so dark, get her calm (if she already cries) and put her down. then leave her. she will then kick off crying, sometimes going bright red and totally full on cry - why? Or do I just need to accept have cranky child and pray she will grow out of it?

Welcome to the site. Would she fall asleep if you held her in your arms? I'm not suggesting you do that, just asking as maybe she just wants your attention. Could you put something in with her that reminds her of you? Could you sit by her cot until she settles better? I hope she settles soon.

I agree with audrey, also you could try some soothing music on quiet so she doesn't fell as if she is on her own in the room.
Also you don't mention whether she is in her nursery other than sleep time, she may benefit form sitting quietly in there, maybe with the curtains open, with you and perhaps having a story read to her or something similar done that is not very active, so that she associates he nursery with quiet time as well as sleep time which may make bed time less stressful for her.
Hope you find a solution soon xx

Cant add much more than what Audrey and Sal have said. However, my 3 girls all love the feeling of the fleece blankets from Primark. They rub them against their cheeks and fall asleep to the feel. Ella still loves the feel of something against her cheek (she is 2 and half) and it is often only way I can get twins to sleep during day other than walking in pram for hours (not practical with Ella about) Good luck xx

Hope I've pushed the right button to reply to this. Thank you so much for replies!!! Yes she sleeps in her nursery, I feed her in there too and change her nappy so should be used to the room, sometimes have radio on when feeding but nothing on when going to sleep as thought this would overstimulate her and prevent her from sleeping. Have sat and talked to her before putting her down, but if shes cranky makes no difference. Kinda feels like its hit and miss, but want to get to the bottom of making her feel comfortable and chilled in there so when put her down will be ok and quiet to let herself fall asleep rather tahn cry herself to sleep. Tis difficult to know what a 14 week old thinks! many thanks xx

All mine have had some form of music with soft lights to help them get to sleep. There are loads of different ones out there. Argos have a Tomy one for £9.99. Jaidyn still likes her music on at bedtime and she's 5!

Hiya and welcome to the site Cant add to what has already been said maybes some sort of comforter will help her to sleep better. Mine used to only go to sleep with a snuggle blanket as we call them lol
