| Post subject: | Quick update |
Hi ladies, so thought while I have 2 mninutes would give you all a wee update. Will warn you though it is a bit of a rant and a need for a shoulder to cry on Things were getting really bad with both girls feeding. We have tried eveything you al suggested. But both girls are so exhauusted after about 20 minutes they have only taken 25mls. Yesterday we spoke to teh midwife and she wanted to speakto Wishaw general about them. I broke my heart waiting to hear what she would say and yes you guessed it we ended up back in Wishaw. They chekced Abbie first, and she was not maintaining her temp too well. So they warmed her up, but she was so lethargic. The Dr came in and was doing drop test etc, and NADA from Abbie. It was obvious she was getting admitted. Katie fared batter and they let us feed her. We used the glass bottles and teats that you can only get in hospital. She fed really well - well good for her. So looks like she is gettingexhausted using the teats and hence why the lethargy. We have to just use the wee glass bottles and teats from the hospital in the meantime - steralise them but not tell anyone heheeheh. She still struggles to take the full feed for me, but with Neil about she seems to take the rest between us. Abbie on the other hand has been kept in. Her oxygen saturation levels keep dropping, and although once warmed up she came back to life a little and fed really well. They are running blood and urnine cultures to rule out an infection. She has been moved to a seperate room just in case. She is on antibiotics and in there for at least 48 hours. No rooms for us to stay so the wee soul is in there on her own. Now for my dilema! Katie still not feeding great, Abbie in neo natal, I'm not allowed to drive and have to be in all day for the midwife checking me and Katie over, and Ella at Drs as I write with another chest infection (her 3rd since new year). None of the girls getting to spend any time with me - hardly even seen Ella in over a week - maybe about 5 hours in total!. My BP still very high which every time someone checks it, I worry I will be readmitted. See what I mean ladies - a bit of a rant. I am exhausted and emotionally wrung out. The guilt is killing me - I was almost on my knees begging the Dr to take the twins out early the day before it all happened. Oh should also add in, have discovered that my wedding ring, signet ring that parents bought me for going to High school, and gran's wedding ring ( which was the only thing I got when she died, and have been wearing since) have all been lost. I was wearing them when went into hospital, and as they decided to do the emergency section they had tocome off. Contact lenses were nearly geting taken out, but had no glasses with me so they agreed to allow them to remain. Anyway, gave them to Neil, and in the chaos of the night - him getting changed twice etc, we have lost them. Have got everything crossed for wee Abbie, and that things settle down soon. Thanks for "listening" ladies. xx |

I hope all 3 girls are improving soon Fi - you knew it would be hard with the twins, just give them time and they will get the hang of this feeding business - they are still so tiny. Fingers crossed you are all together soon - one big happy family when the girls are hungry and need all your attention. really hope you find those rings hun - dont forget to ask at the hosp, just incase xx (((HUGS))) |

Great big thanks ladies for listening to my moans again Well yesterday more updates. Ella doesn't have chest, throat or ear infection wooohooo. The coughing is due to a build up of mucus in her lungs. Coughing will actually help Katie is now taking upwards of 45ml a feed. So delighted - in fact the last 5 or so feeds she has taken well over 50ml. What an imporvement. So you know what, we will continue to use the teats and wee glass bottles from the hospital. I know it will work out much more expensive, but will be buying the cartons of ready made formula rather than the powder - at least till I see her gaining weight again. I am not prepared to change too much of a formula that appears to be working at the moment. My BP is down, but still very high. Midwife was very understanding why it not going down the way it should with the medication I am on. She commented on how pale I look, but rather than rush me into hospital she was very understanding of everything I am going through. I know am not eating much and often forgetting to take my tablets, but my wee girlies are more important at the moment. Dad even commented how bad I looked as did the midwifes in the hosptial. Now Abbie. Neil went in yesterday afternoon and she was looking so much better. When I got to go in last night, I was dreading that he was just saying all this to make me feel better. But was proven wrong. She was brilliant So it looks like both girls have stuggled with the feeding. Everything was going well till we ran out of wee bottles the hospital gave us home. We had started using the Avent ones we had from Ella, and therein seems to lie the problem. We rushed out and bought Mam bottles as well but still not been enough for the girls. Being prem, and having to work sooooooooo hard for their food has just exhausted the we souls. We are now using the glass ones from the hospital and steralising them and the teats in the meantime. They work, and we aint changing what works again for a long time. Will let you all know how Abbie is this afternoon when I visit xx |

Ah Fi - What a couple of days you've had of it. I hope that today you have had more good news and that both or ur girls are doing well. Try to remember to look after yourself too - I know is difficult - all of your girls need you fit and well to look after them so make sure that you are eating - even if its not particularly healthy and taking your meds. You need to be strong and well for them. (Sermon over!!!!) x |

So good and bad news today. My Bp down, and community midwifes pleased to sign me off. Am only at day 11 as well, but they happy to hand me and Katie over to HV and my GP. Need to see Gp during week to get checked and monitor medication. Now for the not so good news. It appears that Katie had a wee urine infection. A urine sample was showing raised white cells. So they keeping her on antibiotics and running another sample. on tuesday. Earliest she will now get out is Wednesday but more likely end of week, all being good xx |

Good that your BP is improving now. Once Katie gets her antibiotics, then she'll be fine, and you'll soon have all your little family at home with you. |
