.... one of them goes and throws a spanner in the works!!

Maddie has just emailed from Vietnam (Of all the places to flipping go on your Gap Year Travels!!!!) to say words to the effect of... I've changed my mind about Uni agin! I don't really want to do Architecture. I always wanted to do Medicine and I know I'll regret it if I don;t go for it so......"

She has a place in Manchester to do Architecture, all accepted and has paid her deposit on accommodation too. Now, she goes and changes her mind. Not only that it's almost impossible to get a place to do medicine at this late a date for October 2010 so looks like she'll be working/travelling for another year after she goes and applies again. Who knows eh!?

Just as you think another one of the kids is all sorted and the next few years are mapped-out.....

Oh dear - she may change her mind again before she comes back
I must have made my parents life easy - I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was 7 years old. I knew which school I wanted to work in from when I was 15! And yes I work in that school

Funny thing is that she wanted to be a doctor from a very young age and went and changed her mind right at the last minute for a few reasons. Arghhh!

I was the same at that age, I think generally, most kids are. You can't really know what you want to do for the rest of your life until you've lived a little (unless you're Fi! ). I wanted to be a Nurse/air traffic controller/vet/ teacher/singer/dancer and all sorts when I was a child, but as soon as I turned 16 I wanted to do Fine Art, so I did. I had no idea what I wanted to do with the degree, or what career I wanted. I just knew I wanted to get the hell away from home for 4 years, and then never go back! Thinking about it, that's exactly what I did..... and I do now sing!

I hope she manages to get an early place for her medical degree Kathryn. Kids eh?!

Looks like she'll have to wait another year from all the calls and emails today! Pain in the butt as she is........

Will she get her deposit for her accommodation back if that is the case? Maybe she'll be lucky enough to get a place through 'clearing' if that still happens nowadays?
